  Lovely short break

  Myself and my daughter stayed. Knew it was just a bed but plenty of seating areas outside the room which we used. Toilets and showers clean. Easy to get to centre and nice places around locally too. The staff were lovely and even gave my daughter some free m n ms which was lovely. It was quiet and relaxed hotel. Would stay again and definitely worth the value . Also we stayed on the bank holiday with the heat wave and the rooms were cool but they is no window.

  I was not sure about this hotel when I booked it but it turned out to be a great place. It is in a good location, with some nice pubs and places to eat nearby. It is walking distance to Vondelpark, and a couple of minutes walk to the main 17 tram to Dam Square/ central station. You can simply tap your credit card on the tram when you get on and off to pay.The hotel is very quirky. I stayed in a larger room (the upstairs Blue Room (which had its own shower, toilet and sink) but many of the rooms had shared ablutions. The blue room had plenty of space, and a comfortable bed. Some of the other rooms included a double bed inside a mini-van (in the middle of a library (where the book shelves rotated to reveal other bedrooms!). There was a church facade with two rooms, and a mirrored corridor with some rooms. The bar did not function as a bar but you could purchase snacks and alcohol from reception and drink it in the bar area. There was no TV in the rooms (which did not cause me any issues), but there was free WiFi.

  Funky Hotel in the suburbs - cheap and cheerful with its own bar

  Nice funky hotel and our room was well priced for the city of Amsterdam. less than 5 min walk off the 17 Tram caught at Amsterdam Central Station. The room is small be warned - The bed fills it - There are 2 hangers on back of door - Bathroom does what it needs to do - nice large shower - tiny sink. There is zero storage to put anything away or off the ground - This was fine for us as we were just there one night with an small backpack. All I'd suggest is some shelves up above the head just to be able to put stuff out the way. beyond that no issues - all very clean and comfortable and very friendly staff.

  A Medical Emergency Met with Broken Promises

  I rarely write reviews like this, but what happened with Hotel Not Hotel was so unacceptable it needs to be shared. I am the one writing this and handling the refund process because my daughter was too ill to manage it herself. We were dealing with a serious medical situation. My daughter had a highly contagious illness, and her physician made it clear that she should not travel because of the risk of organ rupture.Given the unusual and completely unforeseeable circumstances, we requested a refund. We fully understood that the room was technically nonrefundable. That was never the issue. The issue is that this hotel repeatedly told us they would issue a refund, then reversed course, then assured us again that they would refund it if we followed the steps they provided, and then denied it again.Hotel Not Hotel initially responded with what seemed like compassion. They told us they would refund the stay. They even put in writing that they would personally take care of it. They asked for medical documentation, including lab work and confirmation of the severity of the illness, and we provided everything they requested.After they received the medical information they asked for, they again assured us that they would issue the refund if we followed the additional steps they gave us. Once again, we followed those steps exactly. Then they denied the refund.When we referenced the written assurance, we were told that the manager who made that commitment, Alex, was suddenly no longer employed there. Conveniently, that became the explanation for why no one would honor what had already been promised in writing. We were then told the request would still be honored, only to have the refund denied again.Hotel Not Hotel asked for detailed medical records, acknowledged the seriousness of the situation, promised a refund, asked us to complete additional steps, reassured us that the refund would be issued if we complied, and then denied it anyway.Even more troubling, their position essentially became that my daughter should have traveled anyway, despite being contagious and at risk of serious medical complications, rather than the hotel absorbing a $250 loss or simply rebooking the room with someone else. They would rather risk her life and expose other guests than follow through on their own word.

  Very lovely place in a lovely area with lovely staff, very unique hotel with a good bar inside my room was very clean and the part of the hotel it was in was very quiet, the only negative thing i can say about this hotel is the rooms are quite small but you know that when you book, i definitely wouldnt mind returning here again at some point in the future thankyou to all the staff
