Location

This hotel is situated directly in the city centre in the Dam pedestrian area. It is just a few minutes to the main railway station on foot as well as the Royal Palace and Madame Tussaud's. The surrounding area is littered with an abundance of shops, restaurants and bars and public transport and a nightclub are also within easy reach.

Facility

The hotel has 3 suites, 15 single rooms and 224 double rooms, which are located on 5 storeys and are reachable by lift. Multilingual staff (English, German, French) at the reception desk in the lobby are ready to assist you with check-in and check-out. Amenities include a baggage storage service, safe, currency exchange service and drinks machine. Wireless internet access in public areas allows guests to stay connected. The tour desk offers assistance with booking excursions. Wheelchair-accessible facilities are available. A fireplace creates a cosy atmosphere. A number of shops, including a souvenir shop, are great for shopping or just browsing. Additional amenities include a newspaper stand and a TV room. Guests arriving by car can park their vehicles in the garage or in the car park. Rooms

Rooms are equipped with air conditioning and individually adjustable heating. All rooms are carpeted and include a double bed or a king-size bed. Extra beds can be requested.     THIS HOTEL HAS THE WORST SERVICE I HAVE EVER ENCOUNTERED!Calling the front desk can take 30 minutes and more since nobody answers the phone. If it wasn't for the need to take 2 elevators down to the reception, this might have been forgiven.We had a problem with our air conditioning as we've checked in. The following day, asked the front desk for a technician (it took 30 minutes to get through}. After waiting for another 45 minutes, called again (took them this time more than 15 min to pickup the phone) and the lady that answered claimed that it can take even 1.5 before a technician can be available to look at the problem. After insisting, they sent a technician who fixed the issue in under 3 min.That same day, we left the room at 9am and came back at 4pm. Nobody cleaned the room. When we complained to the cleaning lady that was cleaning an adjacent room, she claimed that they only tend to already checked out rooms first and since we are already in the room they cannot clean it. We had to get ready to go for a show so we just took some fresh towels and let it go. The following day, we called the front desk at 9am in the morning (15min wait this time) and specifically said that the room wasn't cleaned yesterday and that we are asking them to clean the room before 3pm. Came back at 3pm and the room was not cleaned. Called the front desk again (20min to go through) and asked to speak with a manager. The manager, instead of owning the problem and taking care of it like a normal service provider, claimed that the reason the room wasn't cleaned the day before was that we've placed a do not disturb sign on the door - which is a complete lie. when I told her we did not, she called me a lier. Unbelievable! DO NOT STAY THERE EVEN IF THIS IS THE LAST PLACE AVAILABLE IN AMSTERDAM. As part of our sustainability policy, linen is normally changed every three days. If you prefer this earlier, our reception team is always happy to arrange this upon request.We are also very sorry about the conversation you described with the manager.     Firstly the staff were absolutely fab no issues with them what so ever. The room was ok, nothing special to be honest and very expensive, but I suppose it's prime location hikes the prices up. The bed was extremely hard and as I have bad hips this made for a painful, wakeful sleep. Also Husband's back was hurting after a night's sleep. The light kept going off in the bathroom which was annoying, I'm standing in the shower in the pitch black, I mean why.. The room was clean with tiny bath bowls. The shower had no shelf for any of your own personal toiletries and no rail so if you go down then you're on the floor.Not sure about the complimentary shoe shine and sewing kit in the bathroom. Maybe a shower cap and I dunno, a bar of soap or tissues might be more useful. Also maybe supply a couple of mugs with the kettle as well as glasses. Little things just make things better.Bar was also closed, could be a good reason but I was a bit disappointed. We wouldn't go back sadly.
