    Mixed

    rating27 May 2026

Great location and friendly and helpful staff. Our basement room was comfier than expected and extremely clean. Space had been maximised and used well and the air con was great. However - walls are extremely thin, we could hear everything from the guests in the rooms next to us - water running, toilets flushing, conversations... Was fine for 1 night but wouldn't stay longer for this reason.

    One Night Stay

    rating14 May 2026

We stayed at the hotel for one night, May 13–14. Unfortunately, our experience at check-in was disappointing. When we entered with our carry-on luggage and backpacks, there were three staff members at the reception area. One greeted us briefly but did not offer assistance or ask if we had a reservation. When I approached the desk and provided our passports, one staff member (Ali) answered a phone call while processing our check-in. Meanwhile, another staff member was assisting a different guest. The overall interaction felt unwelcoming and unprofessional. We were asked to complete a form requesting personal information such as date of birth, place of birth, home address, email, and phone number. While some details may be required under local regulations, we felt the request for home address and other information was unnecessary since our passports already contain most identification details. The explanation provided did not feel clear or reassuring.Overall, we found the front desk service to be unhelpful, and the experience did not meet our expectations. Considering the price we paid, we did not feel the stay was worth the value. The bathroom facilities and amenities were also below expectations. We hope management will improve staff hospitality and guest service in the future.

    Hotel is ok, service isn't

    rating21 Jan 2026

I was wondering why the review score isn't so good for this property, the hotel is nice and clean and has a good location, however their service standard l isn't on the same level of the property, wanted to charge me 12+ euros for one hour of late checkout, while the hotel wasn't so busy

    Unfriendly management

    rating04 Nov 2025

The management of this hotel are shrewd and lack any kind of sympathy or compassion , I understand that they are not in the compassion business but sometimes it tells a lot about their hospitalityMy son who resides in Amsterdam was diagnosed with cancer two and half year ago so I have been traveling frequently to Amsterdam during his chemo sessions always staying at the melrose mainly for convenient location to my son’s apartmentEventually this last month (October) he passed awayMy sister and I payed for the nights we are staying after his death, the bill was payed in full realizing that we are leaving on a Saturday morning the owner of the hotel with a cynical smile on his face demanded extra $75 when we attempted to tell him about the death of my son and how many weeks I have stayed at the hotel he showed absolutely no sympathy or understanding The attitude of this human left a very bitter taste in my mouthIf you can find a different hotel to stay at I recommend you do thatMybfool@yahoo.com Melrose Hotel, Owner at Melrose Hotel, responded to this review Dear Maria,First and foremost, please accept our most sincere and heartfelt condolences for the loss of your son. We are truly sorry to learn of your family's profound loss, and we regret that your stay with us coincided with such a difficult time.We have read your review with great concern and have conducted a thorough investigation into the incident you described regarding a charge of €75.We would like to clarify for you and future guests that our room rates, like many hotels, are dynamic and fluctuate daily based on demand, season, and advance booking. The final amount charged is always based on the confirmed rate for each specific night of your stay. Our records indicate that your bill was settled correctly according to these pre-defined nightly rates, and there was no additional or arbitrary "extra" fee applied. However, and most importantly, we are deeply apologetic and ashamed of the interaction you describe. Regardless of the factual accuracy of billing, the experience you had—feeling dismissed and met with a lack of compassion during a moment of immense personal grief—represents a significant failure on our part. The attitude displayed by our staff member was unacceptable and does not reflect the standards of empathy and hospitality we strive to uphold. We are taking this matter extremely seriously. The individual involved has been spoken with, and the entire front desk and management team will undergo mandatory retraining focused on compassionate guest communication, especially with guests facing difficult circumstances.Your loyalty as a frequent guest over the past two years means a great deal to us, and we are truly sorry we failed you when you needed understanding the most. We would welcome the opportunity to discuss this with you directly.Warm regards,Team Melrose Hotel

Great small hotel with fabulous staff!

    rating04 Oct 2025

PROS: Fabulous small hotel close to everything, yet quiet at night. Great checkin/checkout experience, and very friendly staff. Rooms are tight, but as advertised. CONS: No onsite restaurant, but several cafes close by. NO FITTED bottom sheets, so after a few minutes you are sleeping on the mattress (like the 500 people before you). Easy fix, either get bigger sheets and securely tuck them, or get fitted sheets.OVERALL: Highly recommend the Melrose Hotel for its price, location, and wonderful staff! Thank you for a great visit.
