Location

This hotel is situated just north of the centre of Amsterdam within walking distance of all the city's famous sights. The hotel is easily accessible both by car as well as by public transport. It is just 10 minutes drive from the city centre and the railway station is 1.5 km away.

    This is a great hotel, very pleasant, friendly, knowledgeable and helpful staff . The facilities are good ,nice functional rooms clean and comfortable . Tea and coffee making facilities ,refrigerator, and British tv BBC1 BBC2 ITV 1,2,3.Your rooms are cleaned on a daily basis if wanted but we opted for the Eco friendly option and received vouchers for 2 free drink at the bar during our 4 night stay.There is a shop within the hotel which is self service pay by card for chocolate ,crisps water and soft drinks etc. The reception can direct you to where you want to visit and book some trips for you if required . The area around the hotel is ok and there are several supermarkets ,cafes and restaurants nearby. Breakfast is served mon - Fri 7.00-10.00 am sat 7.00-11.00 am s Sun 7.00-12.00 . There is a good choice of fruit juices ,water , fresh fruit and breakfast cheeses and meats . good selection of breads ,pastries and sweet cakes . a wide selection of jams, spreads and yoghurts ,fromage frais . The breakfast staff are also really friendly and helpful .However the only negative I have to say about this hotel is about the breakfast . The only breakfast cereal I could find was Granola and there were no alternative milks (almond ,oat, soya etc.) On two of the mornings the pastries were overcooked too dark and just flew away in a flurry of flakes when you attempted to eat them. The hot food was not to my taste all except for the scrambled egg . the sausages didn't taste good . the kidney beans in tomato sauce were not something i recognised .This may just be my own personal British taste but breakfast wasn't great for me. The hotel provides a minibus shuttle down to the free ferry across to Amsterdam central station which is more or less the main city. The minibus journey takes about 7-10minutes ,but it is only perhaps a 20 minutes walk anyway and you can call the hotel to be picked up on your return . There are restaurants and bars down near the ferry terminal (the ferries seem to run every 7 -10 minutes ) .there are also some tourist attractions down by the riverside (the lookout 360 degree views of Amsterdam ,"This is holland" visitor centre and a centre of film making ? ) Eline Westerhof, Guest Services / Front Office at NH Amsterdam Noord, responded to this review Dear Guest,Thank you for sharing such thoughtful feedback about your recent stay.     Perfect hotel for exploring the city

    An excellent stay and perfect location for exploring the city. Clean bedrooms and has everything you need including fridge which is handy. Reception staff were very friendly and helpful. There is a free mini-bus from the hotel to the free ferry so you are then next to Central station which is very handy. Ferry was a great experience too. Takes 5mins and you can WhatsApp them when you need picking up. Supermarket by the hotel and a few nice restaurants, Smaak? which was very good. Tips: Great roof top cocktail bar on top of Hilton by central station with amazing views of the city. If you are travelling to Keukenhof, you can hire bikes which we did first thing so it was quiet and you can explore the tulip fields before heading inside Keukenhof.
