    Filthy

    rating29 May 2026

Shocking hotel. It was filthy. I stayed for 4 nights and the carpet outside of my door was not vacuumed once: the staff were rude: breakfast felt like a Holiday Inn: would not recommend. The bedrooms were carpeted and filthy Caroline Van Kessel, Guest Services / Front Office at Pulitzer Amsterdam, responded to this review Dear sir/madam,,Thank you for sharing your impressions of your recent stay with us. Disappointing Service in terrace patio restaurant

    rating27 May 2026

The design attention to detail is fresh and inspiring and done with a great choices. Lots to look at in every restaurant and especially the amazingly well appointed BUT the big broken link at the Pulitzer is a lack of the quality and courteous service expected from a 5 star propertyIn the entry terrace area outdoor patio eatery the servers were consistently surly and inattentive, contentious and aggressive — was dismayed and disappointed by this The front reception and concierge and bell hop were all bright spots. But every restaurant visit at Pulitzer was disappointing from a service point of view, notably absent are grace and welcoming hospitality. One young male waiter a Monday May 25th late afternoon was especially rude and unwelcoming, and surely. Clearly didn’t embody a service ethic worthy of a 5 star experience - unfortunately so, the following day at the patio on Tuesday May 26 a middle aged woman with wavy pulled back hair was equally challenged. And lacking in service ethic and pleasant hospitality. I overheard another non-related guest prompt her saying, “what’s going on here? I’m paying a lot of money to stay here and just want to have a nice lunch. Can we press reset ?” Instead of apologizing, the workers argued and debated the customers in both situations Pulitzer hospitality workers in the restaurants and bars need a big upgrade in courtesy, engagement and hospitalityThe lacking service was a big and unexpected and consistent experience — it needs significant attention from senior management; big growth opportunity. Caroline Van Kessel, Guest Services / Front Office at Pulitzer Amsterdam, responded to this review Dear Rob K,Thank you for sharing your detailed feedback. We are pleased to hear that the design and attention to detail made a positive impression, and we appreciate your kind words about our reception, concierge, and bell team.We are truly sorry to learn that your experiences in our dining venues did not reflect the high standards of courtesy and hospitality that we strive to uphold. Your description of the interactions you encountered is concerning and does not align with the welcoming service we aim to deliver throughout the hotel. Your feedback will be addressed to our restaurant manager to avoid this from happening in the future and to ensure that the restaurants enhance our guests their stay. Thank you again for bringing this to our attention. We hope to have the opportunity to better reflect our standards during a future visit and provide a seamless and hospitable stay.Do not hesitate to reach out to me personally if you would like to visit us again. It will be my pleasure to assist you. Kind regards, Courtney van HuizenDirector of Rooms, Pulitzer Amsterdam

A unique, special and great hotel - in every respect

    rating20 May 2026

Having stayed at this Hotel for 13 nights a year ago and for a week a few days ago, there is no question that this a unique and special hotel. Canal Houses beautifully and stylishly "turned" into a hotel is already quite something. Add to that a beautiful garden area with a restaurant (apply called Garden) to dine in or overlook. The restaurant Jansz is also excellent. But what really tops everything is the wonderful, delightful, warm, friendly and ever-helpful staff - in all "areas" of the hotel. To stay here is a real, real treat! Caroline Van Kessel, Guest Services / Front Office at Pulitzer Amsterdam, responded to this review Dear Jeffrey L,Thank you for returning to stay with us and for sharing such gracious feedback. We are delighted to know that our collection of canal houses and the character of the hotel continue to make your visits feel special. It is wonderful to hear that you enjoyed the tranquil garden setting and your experiences at both Garden and Jansz. Your kind words about our warm and attentive team mean a great deal to us.We truly appreciate your loyalty and look forward to the pleasure of welcoming you back for another memorable stay.Warm regards,Anne Martin Guest Experience Manager

    Nice hotel but spotty

    rating07 May 2026

There were many great things about the hotel, including the location. Public spaces were beautiful. The staff was abundant but not necessarily effective. This was the sole hotel on a 10 day trip with my 82 year old mother in which we weren’t immediately offered a (slightly) early check in. A mixup with the room type was rectified, but I had to complain. They moved us and offered breakfast. Accommodations were not as luxurious as I would hope for 5 stars and the price. Jansz restaurant staff were lovely. Caroline Van Kessel, Guest Services / Front Office at Pulitzer Amsterdam, responded to this review Dear Allison H,Thank you for sharing your experience and for highlighting our central setting, distinctive public spaces, and the warm service at Jansz. We are pleased to know those aspects enhanced your stay.We are genuinely sorry for the delay with the room being ready and for the inconvenience surrounding the room type. Your comments have been shared with our team so we can refine our arrival processes and better support guests with time-sensitive needs. We appreciate your perspective regarding the overall accommodations and service effectiveness. Your feedback has been communicated internally to help us strengthen consistency and elevate the experience to the standards we aspire to provide.Regarding dining, we are glad you felt well looked after by the Jansz team, and we apologize for any inconsistencies you encountered. We are working closely with our colleagues to enhance the quality and reliability of our offerings.Thank you again for your detailed feedback. We hope to have the opportunity to welcome you and your mother back for a more seamless and memorable stay.Kind regards,Pulitzer Amsterdam Team

    Bedankje Pulitzer.

    rating02 May 2026

We have one more full day at The Pulitzer, check out on the day after tomorrow. The whole staff has been great. Canal cruise with Jan, a local and a funny guy, funny enough to be invited to do warm-up for Wanda Sykes. Staying in the Wool House and if we get to have the same room, the next time we come back, I’m sure we would like it the second time as much as we’ve liked it the first time. If you don’t like style and sophistication, this might not be the hotel for you. Comfortable bed, great bathroom, good lighting, quite enough for this New York City couple. The location was great for everything we like and wanted,… restaurants, shopping, spring time with leaves coming out on the trees and flowers planting all around. In a way, I almost don’t want to pump this place because I don’t want it to get more popular and more expensive and harder to get in when we come back again. Bedankje Pulitzer. Caroline Van Kessel, Guest Services / Front Office at Pulitzer Amsterdam, responded to this review Dear Surfnyc212,Thank you for sharing such warm feedback while still staying with us. Your kind words about the canal cruise with Jan truly made our day.We are grateful for your recommendation and look forward to the pleasure of welcoming you back for another memorable visit.
