    Very disappointing

    rating17 Jul 2025

Arrived at the hotel with my wife and a friend. Upon check in the young lady at the desk was very rude and not helpful at all. Asked about local trains to Maastricht but was told to search online. However, the other lady the rest of the stay was very helpful and friendly. The hotel is rated 3 Stars by Booking. Com, but I think it may be 2Stars. Sorry to say, give this hotel a miss

Value for money, but really a Fletcher hotel, so it needs updating

Actually what you can expect from a Fletcher hotel. The prices are good, so value for money. Service staff is good. Room was small and really outdated. I think in nowadays standards, it would be good if they had coffee/tea facilities in the room. A kettle to boil water and some tea bags would have been nice. We had an arrangement that included a two course meal. Food was reasonable but not a lot of choice. Breakfast in the morning was the best thing. There was really a lot of choice. For our purpose, to stay in a reasonable priced hotel, this was the right choice

    Best avoided

Aside from the location, it's perfect for the motorway and Valkenburg, and the good breakfast, there is very little to recommend about the Fletcher Hotel-Restaurant De Burghoeve. The hotel looks quaint from the outside, with a very small, cramped car park a sign of what to expect. Arriving around check in time at 15:00, the car park (with space for around 10 cars) was already almost full. With on street parking available only to permit holders, it is unclear where others were supposed to leave their car(s). An impractical reception desk, with unhelpful staff, who immediately advised us that dinner (that had been pre-booked) was not available at the hotel, as there was no chef, and that we would need to walk to another hotel. Admittedly the alternative hotel was not far, but guests should be advised of this prior to booking and it should be detailed on the website. Had we known, we would not have pre-booked. We did ask whether we could cancel the dinner but were advised that this would be a long process of emailing the manager. Reading the reviews since leaving, it’s apparent that the absence of a chef is not a recent issue. We felt very sorry for the people staying at the front of the hotel, with rooms close to the creaky and very noisy stairs and floors. It was impossible to walk quietly. The rooms are indeed small as listed, very dated, in need of repair and a very deep clean. There is no seating, desk or amenities you would expect. Room was very warm, possibly 10 degrees warmer than outside, one can only assume it’s the opposite in winter. In the absence of air conditioning, a small fan was provided. This worked for an hour before overheating and stopping. The bathroom was again old and in need of renovation, it took a long time to get the hot water working. The beds were comfortable enough for a two-night stay, but clearly old. The additional, dead insects on top of the bedding were quickly removed. Cleaning on the 2nd day did not take place. The bed was not made and towels left on the bathroom floor (as per the hotel guidance) were not exchanged. A bag containing 2 hand towels, 2 toilet rolls and 2 plastic cups had been thrown onto the bed from the doorway. Clearly no employee had been inside the room. On returning to the hotel after dinner, a sign on the door notified us that the hotel was unstaffed between 21:00 and 08:00, with a number to be called to obtain access to the building. Luckily my companion tried the room key in the front door and this worked. Again, people should be made aware that no staff will be present for 11 hours, prior to booking, should an emergency arise. All in all, we would not advise anyone to book this hotel in its current state, unless they enjoy a museum or a visit back in time to the 70’s is their cup of tea. It is not indicative of other Fletcher hotels we have stayed at, but if this was your first time in a Fletcher hotel, it could put people off the chain for life.

We were kept waiting over an hour in the "breakfast room" a fridge is warmer. Cold even with coats on..Carpets, dated in room 10. Told no not allowed a kettle in the room.My mum 78 had to sleep with her coat on it was that cold even with radiator on.Website said breakfast included and it was sold as, an extra at €17.50Could not check out fast enough.. Even at 26 Euro a night on Fletcher website, this, is not worth it. Avoid.

We had vouchers to spend the night at a Fletcher hotel. My previous experiences with the hotel chain were good, however the Burghoeve in Valkenburg didn't meet my expectations. Our arrival started of well. It is only a 15 minute walk from the city centre/train station to the hotel and the outside looks nice. The lady at the front desk was enthusiastic, friendly and made us feel welcome. She told us that we booked a standard room but that she gave us a slight upgrade, as the hotel wasn't fully booked that night. So kind! We were a bit disappointed to see that the room and bathroom were still quite small, and more importantly, massively outdated. The bed and shower were horrible. We left on a bit of a high point though because the breakfast was very nice. It is exactly like the breakfast at other Fletcher hotels, meaning that there are many bread rolls and toppings to choose from.In short, the hotel definitely has some potential but it needs to be updated asap.
