    Overly firm, uncomfortable bed.

    This was actually a nice clean hotel with pleasant staff. The breakfast was excellent. However the problem was with the bed. It was VERY firm, so firm in fact that the first night I only got about 2 hours of sleep, I was just too uncomfortable. When talking to the staff I heard that they have had many complaints about their overly firm beds and that administration was looking into trying to do something about it. All their beds are the same. Fortunately for me, I had a friend living in Gouda and I was able to spend the next 2 nights on her single bed in her spare room while my husband stayed at the hotel. He didn't sleep very well either but managed more than 2 hours. If you can sleep no matter what the bed, than this a a good hotel. However if overly firm ( read hard) could be a problem for you, stay away.     Modern clean hotel. We had breakfast included in our tour price, so I am not sure about the cost of it, but it was an excellent buffet with lots of variety.     This is a good place to stay when visiting Gouda. A short stroll from the city center. Quiet rooms with good sound proofing. Friendly staff. Confy beds. Modern room and hotel decor.     A Perfect Stay in Charming Gouda

    We only stayed one night at City Hotel Gouda, but it was such a pleasant experience that we wished we had more time. Just a short walk from Gouda Central Station, the hotel is modern, welcoming, and well-equipped for travelers.The rooms are spacious, comfortable, and spotless. We loved the convenience of self check-in/check-out, luggage storage, and the availability of e-bike rentals. The e-bikes were in excellent condition, very reasonably priced for the day, and made exploring the town an absolute joy. Gouda itself is a quiet, charming town, and riding through its historic streets and canals was a highlight.Breakfast was excellent, with a full hot and cold selection to start the day right. The hotel’s restaurant and bar were stylish and inviting, though it’s worth noting that food service ends fairly early. Fortunately, the town square—with plenty of restaurants and bars—is just a short walk away. That said, Gouda dining tends to wrap up early (many kitchens close around 8 PM), so plan ahead.We also took advantage of the hotel’s location to hop on a quick train to Rotterdam, which made for an easy and exciting day trip. City Hotel Gouda is a great choice for comfort, convenience, and exploring both Gouda and the surrounding area.This hotel was formerly a Best Western.
