Facility

The friendly staff at the reception desk are happy to answer any questions. Amenities available at the resort include a baggage storage service and a safe. Wireless internet access is provided in public areas. The complex offers a number of facilities for guests with disabilities. The resort has wheelchair-accessible facilities and a lift. The grounds of the resort feature a playground and a lovely garden. Guests arriving by car can park their vehicles in the car park. Further services include a 24-hour security service, a babysitting service, medical assistance, a transfer service, room service, a laundry service, a coin-operated laundry and a hotel shuttle bus. A fax machine is available for guests' business needs.

Rooms

Air conditioning and central heating ensure that rooms maintain comfortable temperatures. In most units, guests can enjoy a view of the sea from a balcony or terrace.     Location good, relaxing and quiet. Room average, ripped and moldy net curtains, red wine stain on carpet, struggled to get slider open.Restaurant and room service average. Cold breakfast two out of three days. Housekeeping attitude super poor. Advised reception when I check out of issues and advised via email they would refund me, - still waiting for refund , now wondering if I'll see it ??!     Location stunning but let down by food and decor

    The location is stunning but unfortunately the food and decor let this location down. On arrival the place looks a little unkept but the view when entering makes you want to give it a try. The two girls on duty did their best but the food was not great at all and difficult to get through. Windows showcasing the view were unclean and the general cleanliness of the place was visible.     Great views but isolated

    We only stayed one night but we liked this place. We did have a room with parking outside the room which I suspect makes a big difference. we have been travelling in no now for several weeks so have seen a big difference in the standards of accommodation. So here is what we think. The view is amazing but the place is isolated and quite a way off the beaten track. The receptionist was lovely but we were asked for identification , the first time since we arrived. We are generally self catering so did not use the onsite restaurant, the bed was ok. Room very clean and modern but little in the way of utensils etc.Shower old fashioned.     A great one-night stopover

    Overlooking the volcanic sands of Kariotahi Bay, Castaways does indeed make you feel isolated. There is very little to do here except take your car on the beach (but we weren't brave enough for that) but it was an excellent one night stopover on our travels.The lodges are exquisite. Modern, clean and huge with great views. One can only really get around by calling for a buggy which can take up to 30 minutes. We were there in a major storm so we holed up with snacks and tv and watched the weather roll through. There is a restaurant on-site and the staff across the resort were lovely.
