    Ok for short stay.

    rating04 May 2026

The second time we have stayed at the Movenpick, this time for 12 nights. Its best feature is location but very noisy, dont expect to sleep if its a Friday or Saturday night. The rooms are small but ok for a short stay. The staff did a excellent job of servicing the room but the time spread is a nuisance, the rooms get serviced anywhere between 9.30am and 4.30pm. The wifi is next to useless. If you are looking for a short term stay I would recommend them but if staying longer I would shop around. If wanting breakfast the Daily Bread bakery next door is a much better option. SEAN SLATTERY, General Manager at Movenpick Hotel Auckland, responded to this review Kia ora,Thank you sincerely for taking the time to share your feedback following your 12 night stay with us at Mövenpick Hotel Auckland. We truly appreciate your loyalty in returning to us.We are delighted to hear that our location continues to be a highlight, and that our housekeeping team made a positive impression. We will share your kind words with them.We sincerely apologise for the disruptions you experienced. Noise from the surrounding area on weekend evenings is something we are actively working to address, and we understand how important restful sleep is, especially during a longer stay. Your feedback regarding the housekeeping schedule, Wi-Fi reliability, and room sizing is equally valuable and these are areas we take seriously and will be reviewing with our operations team.We hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back and show you the improvements we are committed to making.Ngā mihi nui,

Great hotel and can't beat the location.

    rating17 Apr 2026

Return visit for us and another great experience. The Location won out for this short stay option whilst visiting Auckland to after a short Princess cruise - just a stone throws away from the cruise terminal any closer and we'd be in the water. Great quality offering from the Accor group of hotels and probably more a 4.5 rating - not quite 5 star, but still very good. Room was large and spacious with harbour views as a bonus - opposite side has city views also pretty good. Service was very good all-round and hotel presents well. Opted in for their buffet breakfast and that was also pretty good, nice selection, coffee not fantastic but pretty good - suits most tastes. Movenpick offer an afternoon - Chocolate tasting selection inclusive of the room rate (believe world wide practice) and this was a nice touch and great little novelty. Happy hour at the Bodo bar is 4-6pm if you can make it. Overall lovely short stay experience and would happily return or recommend. PS. Handy easy walk to main CBD area and Viaduct harbour area. SEAN SLATTERY, General Manager at Movenpick Hotel Auckland, responded to this review Kia ora,Thank you for returning to stay with us and for sharing such a thoughtful review. I am very pleased to hear that you enjoyed another great experience and that our location, so close to the cruise terminal and within easy walking distance of the CBD and Viaduct, worked well for your visit to Auckland. It is also wonderful to know that you appreciated the harbour view room, the overall service from the team, and the presentation of the hotel. I am glad you enjoyed the breakfast selection and our daily Chocolate Hour experience, which is a signature part of the Mövenpick stay.Thank you as well for your balanced comments regarding your rating of the hotel. Feedback like this is valuable and helps us continue refining the experience we offer our guests. We truly appreciate your recommendation and look forward to welcoming you back again on your next visit to Auckland.Ngā mihi nui.Sean Slattery

Beautiful hotel in a great location!

    rating11 Apr 2026

I'll start with the good stuff first!Hotel staff at check in were super friendly. We had to disembark a cruise early due to the cyclone, and they were amazing and offered us early check in at 830. We chose to wait for our original room which was on the 11th floor instead of the 6th floor. They rung us when the room was ready which was great!Hotel is super clean, room is amazing - lots of space, kettle and coffee machine, and the shower is huge! Beds are super comfy and we could see the Auckland tower from our room.Breakfast was extra but was decent. Food was all fresh and a good variety available. They do a chocolate happy hour everyday where they do free chocolate, icecream and a selection of cakes etc which is a really nice touch and the kids loved it!Location is great - 5-10 minute walk (with a 5 and 7 year old) from the cruise terminal. Close to the train station and harbour, and heaps of shops and food options in walking distance. There were a couple negatives though, unfortunately. Firstly, our room card didnt work on 2 occasions, so we had to go downstairs twice to get it rectified. We had also requested our room be serviced, and after being out for 3 hours, it still wasn't done. It did eventually get done later in the afternoon though.Lastly, and the most disappointing was breakfast. They initially tried to tell us we had to pay, despite us already paying for it. They then sat us down (2 adults and 2 young kids) at a table. When we returned, they had allocated the table to someone else, and we were left standing with our food and drinks for 5 minutes while they tried to sort out the issue. They did eventually find us another table, but it was disappointing to have our table given away after a few minutes, and standing in the middle of the room with all our food and drinks and 2 hungry kids was disappointing and a little frustrating. If we hadn't experienced those few things, it wouldve been a 5 star review! Despite that, the room and hotel overall was great and we would probably stay there again. SEAN SLATTERY, General Manager at Movenpick Hotel Auckland, responded to this review Kia ora,Thank you very much for taking the time to share such a thoughtful review of your stay with us, especially given the unexpected disruption to your cruise plans due to the cyclone. I am really pleased our team could assist with an early arrival and help make the start of your stay more comfortable. It is also great to hear you enjoyed the room, the harbour side location, the views toward Sky Tower, and of course our daily Chocolate Hour which is always a favourite with families.I was equally sorry to read about the issues you experienced during your stay. The key card access inconvenience and the delay with room servicing should not have occurred, and I appreciate your patience while these were resolved. More importantly, I apologise for the confusion around breakfast and the situation where your table was reassigned. I completely understand how frustrating that would be, particularly with two young children, and this is not the experience we aim to provide. Your feedback has been shared with the team so we can prevent this happening again. It is encouraging to know that despite these concerns you would consider staying with us again. We truly value that confidence and would very much look forward to welcoming you and your family back for a seamless five star experience next time.Ngā mihi nuiSean Slattery

    Certainly NOT a 5 star!!

    rating02 Apr 2026

Currently at Movenpick Auckland. The only thing going for the hotel is the location. The rooms are at best a 3 star level. Wifi is terrible. The ac duct opens on one side of the bed so in a family room the temperature from one side of the room to the other varies substantially! The road outside has hoons revving their cars and making loud noises. The windows are filthy! While designing the rooms seems they ‘forgot’ that you need lights as well. The 3 lamps placed ( one of which partly covers the tv) don’t even provide enough light to be able to read a book. The views from the restaurant are gorgeous but the breakfast options are quite limited. At best this place is a slightly glorified Ibis. SEAN SLATTERY, General Manager at Movenpick Hotel Auckland, responded to this review Kia ora Ankur M,Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We sincerely regret that your stay did not meet your expectations and that several aspects of your experience fell short. We value our guests’ experiences greatly, and your comments regarding room comfort, lighting, Wi-Fi performance, noise levels, and breakfast offerings have been noted and shared with the appropriate teams for review. At Mövenpick Auckland, our aim is to provide a stay that reflects the quality and service standards of the Mövenpick brand, and I am sorry that this was not your impression on this occasion. While we are fortunate to receive many great reviews from guests who enjoy their experience with us, constructive feedback such as yours is important in helping us identify areas where improvement is needed. We do hope you will consider staying with us again in the future, so we may have the opportunity to provide you with a more positive experience and change your impression.Ngā mihi nuiSean Slattery

    Nice hotel in central Auckland

    rating30 Mar 2026

Good quality hotel in central Auckland. Close to the harbour and a 10 min walk to the Skytower. Comfortable room, top class breakfast, nice touch of chocolate hour every afternoon, great views from the bar and restaurant. Made us feel special on our wedding anniversary. My only negative is that the Wi-Fi was slow. SEAN SLATTERY, General Manager at Movenpick Hotel Auckland, responded to this review Kia ora SimonThank you for your review. We are sorry about the wifi and are dealing with our internet provider to increase our bandwidth. Great to hear you enjoyed the restaurant and bar with our amazing views and thank you for sharing your wedding anniversary with us.We look forward to you staying with us again.Nga mihi nuiSean Slattery
