    A very good, small, hotel right on the lake. The staff / management here are excellent - very caring and great service and great breakfast. Very clean and good facilities. Sadly no room safe, which is important to us.

    Very Nice Facility with a Great Location

    My wife and I spent three nights at Koura Lodge, as our base for exploring the Rotorua area. We booked a king suite room, which included a bedroom, a separate living room with day bed and two bathrooms. Our suite had a large deck (shared) and fantastic views of the lake. Unfortunately, it rained for 2 of our 3 days, so we did not get a chance to use the kayaks or other outdoor amenities. * The room - clean, comfortable and spacious. Having two bathrooms was unusual but nice!* Breakfast - a nice buffet breakfast is served each day. The choices were the same every day, but there is enough variety for an enjoyable breakfast each day. We especially liked the fruit and overnight oats dish. * Location - the lodge is in a mostly-residential area, away from the major roads, but only 5 minutes from a big commercial artery and 10 minutes from the city center.* Staff - friendly, but not easy to find. My only complaint about the lodge - we wanted some local advice two times, but there was no one at the desk and no easy way to find the onsite staff. Overall, we were very pleased with our stay, and only wish mother-nature had been more cooperative.

    We drove down a steep, narrow slope to the car park, left the car and walked into a relaxing, riverside haven. We had such a warm and friendly greeting and made to feel so welcome. The room was large and one side entirely glazed to see the lakeside view. The lake was so enticing, I immediately changed into my swimsuit, had a quick swim and took one of their kayaks out for a paddle. Highly recommended.

    Such happy memories for us. We have been here twice before - some 10 years ago - and couldn't miss the opportunity to stay again.We were made so welcome and the hotel certainly didn't disappoint us. Beautiful rooms, fantastic views of the lake and all so well maintained.This hotel is amazing and is so highly recommended

    We had a wonderful stay 2 night stay at Koura Lodge as a family of 3 adults. Spotlessly clean rooms that were adjoining well supplied with everything needed and a lovely complementary selection of nuts local chocolate and brownies left to enjoy. Very comfortable beds and a lovely patio area with table and chairs for sitting out in the. Guest kitchen with ice making machines and tea and coffee station and good wine glasses . We had a lovely takeaway and local NZ wine on the patio which was lovely.Great extras like hot tub sauna kayaks all free of charge with beautiful views across the lake. Fabulous breakfast cooked by the most lovely husband and wife team fresh local coffee which was excellent and the best scrambled eggs Ive had at a hotel as I normally avoid them as they are always overcooked but these were cooked to perfection. It was lovely chatting to them both. Koura lodge was a real credit to them and ran efficiently and graciously by them both it was lovely talking to you both.
