Get ready for a pleasant surprise

Unexpected benefits.This hotel at first glance is a motel from 1960 on steroids. The once shocking surreal decor is now a bit dated, twenty years plus later. But, I want to point out a few items. First and foremost is the food and service in the lobby restaurant. Starting with Piata, the energetic waitress, you know you are in for something special. And you are. Gourmet quality food. The fresh snapper was delicious. Healthy veggies accompanied the main course. The liver pate appetiser was tasty. Believe it or not. Manuka honey pana cotta with sorbet dessert should not be missed. Even the tap water was great. So, you may he surprised and delighted. As we were. And if you crave something more casual, the Thai restaurant close by is good.We came for the sightseeing, but continue to be positively impressed by the high food quality in both Australia and New Zealand.

The food was fabulous and great service… the lighting is terrible… so bright which gives the restaurant no atmosphere.. plus there were tiles missing out of the ceiling above the bar. The lack of atmosphere spoilt it for me. They seriously need some dimmers or more lamps. I will follow up with the Team regarding the lighting. We do have dimmers and various configurations available. We did have to replace the AC unit above the bar, this is now complete and the ceiling has been reinstated. Not a 'boutique luxury hotel' - felt more like 3 star

The positives: location close to restaurants, shops. Bedroom had separate seating area. The negatives: feel like a 3 star with very basic motel-like rooms. Would greatly benefit from complete makeover and updating. Parking on site, but limited. Beautiful hotel in Rotorua

Such a lovely hotel in Rotorua. Very near Eat Street. The rooms are nice but the real selling point is the staff who are all so kind and helpful. The pool was a real treat too! Nice restaurant and very good bar with a good wine list.

A really lovely Motel in a great location. The room was a lovely size with all mod cons you could want for a short stay. The swimming pool and surrounding area was really nice . Staff always polite and helpful.Only slight negative is the limited parking available. Would definitely recommend.
