    Best Western Alpine in Chc, exceeds expectations

    Nice place to stay with the convenience of multiple & delicious dining options in close proximity. Well-appointed rooms that meet the needs as a business traveller. Friendly staff, secure off street parking (once you know the process of access) and comfortable room.

    I booked this Hotel based on reviews on Booking.com and trip advisor. It has to be the worst hotel experience EVER. The location was super dodgy part of Christchurch. Restaurants around with rubbish everywhere and the food stench in the hotel reception was revolting. The room was right in front of a busy road with no sound insulation. The cost for the night was ridiculous for the experience.Travellers beware.

    I'm amazed at the good reviews written for this location. My experience was quite different. This hotel shares its front entrance with a dive bar and when I arrived there were impaired individuals in close proximity. Garage entrance is down a very narrow back alley with open rubbish bins and open back doors to restaurant kitchens. Took several trips around the block to determine the hotel entrance was between a 7 day a week clinic and run down bar. When I checked on the room offered it was musty and subpar at best. (Certainly not the inviting photoshopped pictures online). Location did not feel safe and asked if there were any other Best Westerns I could transfer my reservation to. Staff was not helpful and refused to help and I ended up paying for the room and finding another hotel. Beware.

    Room was modern, clean and quiet. Bed was very comfortable and aircon unit was nice and quiet. Location suited me well being close to a bus stop for commuting where I wanted to go and many food outlets nearby.

    We have stayed at Alpine Best Western many times this year (probably about 20 nights), the Manager was very friendly and obliging. The rooms were clean and comfortable, location perfect for us. We loved the place. However, since our last stay (3 months ago), there has been a change in management. The room rate has gone up significantly, the rooms are not as clean, the whole vibe of the place has changed, and not for the good. We will probably be looking for a different place next visit. So disappointed.
