    Genuine BnB and tops

    rating27 Oct 2025

Judy has been running her genuine BnB for many years. She lives on the premises and provides excellent service and accommodation. On site parking is easy and safe. A short 5 minute drive to the seaside resort town, Kaikoura. Our room, at the rear of the residence, has exceptional views across a creek, farm fields and beyond to snow capped mountains. Yes snow capped mountains. It must be even more spectacular in winter when the snow is closer.Oh, by the way, breakfast is provided, not cooked, but hey, is that really needed. Judy is friendly, very chatty, actually. She knows her town well and is happy to recommend activities. We went on the 3 to 4-hour Kaikoura coastal walk and saw lots of seals, some close up. We also took the albatross tour (also recommended by Judy...it was impressive).Judy mentioned that she likes reviews and mentioned one that slightly annoyed her. It was about a guest who complained about having to carry their luggage upstairs. Judy would have helped but they didn't asked. You can't please everyone, Judy...and on that point am not a dog or cat lover. Judy has both and to her credit when I asked to have meals with people only she was happy to see them locked outside. Good work Judy, l appreciated that. All in all a very nice 2-day stay. Not expensive either.AND one final yet important point please BOOK DIRECT, Leave the third parties out. Judy will reward you with a better deal, I am sure. We emailed her and quickly booked that way.You could phone her as well.

    Relaxed friendly stay

    rating26 Nov 2024

I stayed at Brook House B&B over the October Long weekend. It was a comfortable, relaxed stay. Judy and animals were welcoming and friendly. I had a double room with ensuite, shower gel, liquid hand soap, I liked the little touches: cotton wool/buds and tissues in bathroom in case you'd forgotten. My room had double glazed windows. Straight forward, self-serve continental breakfast - I enjoyed fresh fruit salad each morning. Help yourself during stay to the different varieties of tea/coffee in the kitchen. Wine glasses, if you grab a bottle from the shop in town. I did use the hot-tub during my stay, albeit just once as I forgot to enquire if it was in use. I really enjoyed my soak and watching the sunset after a day of hiking. Helpful hints and tips from Judy upon arrival. Brook House is 2k walk into the town, or a very quick drive in. Ample parking. Recommend Brook House for bed & breakfast in this lovely resort.

    Wonderful host; great place

    rating08 Nov 2024

This B&B was in a list of South Island accommodations for the price-conscious travelers. We were there two nights and had a fabulous time. Judy was wonderful, informative, and a great host. She filled us in much information, great for foreign travelers. The setting was great with the brook next to the place and lovely flowers. Our room was a little small because we wanted the ground floor and we did not reserve; an upstairs and other rooms were more spacious. But we decided to come back for a second night anyway. And we would do it again.

Great B&B - Judy, lady of the house is super friendly. She gives a realtime good explanation about the area and local cafés and restaurants and things to do in the city. She even does your laundry without an extra charge! The place to be in Kaikoura! 👌🏼

    Kaikoura stopover

    rating06 Jan 2023

Motels are okay for quick stopovers but sometimes staying in a B&B is just better. Nice welcome from the host, useful tips on where to eat. Decent breakfast with friendly guests and a scary story from the host about the earthquake a few years back!
