  Comfortable good sized room a short drive away from the city centre, walking distance to department store

  Very comfortable stay. We stayed here for a night and it was very convenient to get around. The room was spacious for 2 of us and they have coffee / tea and a kitchenette with some plates, flatware with a microwave heating up your food. The views of the mountains is so beautiful. The staff is also very friendly, helpful and pleasant. Would highly recommend

  We stayed at the Kaikoura Motor Inn as we were in town to experience the whale watching tour. The motel is outside the main town centre and it is a bit dated but it was clean. The bathroom had a great shower in a large bathroom. The kitchenette provides the basic accessories and crockery. It is located on a main road so there is some road traffic into the evening and early morning. The entire property looks like it needs a revamp/refresh as it is looking a bit sad.

  Basic Motel on the Highway

  Nice motel to stay for your activities in the Kaikoura town center, though it’s a six minutes drive to the town center. The motel is run by a Chinese family, and all signs have Chinese translation. The room and motel has a dated feel, the rooms are of decent size, furnishing is in ok shape, bathrooms have been redone, while decent kitchen ware and accessories are provided. The interaction with the staff was decent. Ample parking spaces available, and no close by stores or restaurants in the area. Nice play area for the children as well. The sound of traffic is a bit disturbing for light sleepers as the motel is located on the main highway. Good value for money. Below is the detailed review:Location: The motel is located towards the end of settlement on the outskirts of Kaikoura, hence definitely not easily walkable to the town center. The closest restaurants are also a little far out, so everything will be based on driving. Rooms: They are a little dated with older style door and locks, old style and condition furniture, decent bed, mattress and pillows. Lamps, lights, switches, and plugs are very old. For charging only a newer extension cord has been installed in the kitchen area to power the microwave and fridge, however both devices are old and the fridge started to make weird loud noise at 2 AM so had to shut off the power which made the sound stop in few minutes. An older feel prevails through all items in the room, yet they work somehow. Bathroom: Newer fittings have been installed in the bathroom, the shower especially has modern look as well as the drawer under the sink and the hairdryer was also new. There was a separate narrow room with the toilet that also had a door. The shower cabinet had body wash and shampoo dispensers installed. Additional Facilities: There is a laundry with dated washing machines. The parking is really wide and a lot of slots are available across the entire property. The WIFI signals and speed were pretty decent. There is a children park with swings and slides in the center large green belt, which also has huge space for kids to play around. Staff: The staff who I believe are the owners are not very friendly and don’t come across as hospitable in general.

  Good place to stay

  Good place to stay if you are visiting Kaikoura for the Whale watching trip. It is close to the Whale Watch pick up point. It is also a five minute drive to the beach, which is really nice to walk along.Rooms were basic, very clean and had enough facilities and equipment for self service as well.

  Located on a main road as were most others in the town. Noise was not an issue. Plenty of parking right near the rooms. Playground equipment for children. Nice bench seating just outside rooms. Staff were very friendly and accommodating. Cooking facilities in room but no cooktop, just a microwave, toaster, jug, fridge etc.
