  We enjoyed three nights here and it was wonderfully presented, quiet and close to everything in the town . The soaps are eco friendly, rubbish collection in our room included a mini compost bin and the bed and seating were comfortable and clean.Plenty of towels, pillows as well as fresh milk for tea , salt and pepper and all the utensils you will need to prepare your foodGood sized fridge, microwave, kettle, toaster- all you need is provided. A tv and dining table too.The owner Simone takes care of cleaning, gardening and reception and has the perfect temperament and enthusiasm for all of these!We will definitely hope to stay there again!

  Another awesome stay and awesome hostess

  This is the first time we have stayed here in the Winter. We generally visit Hanmer during the summer. We love the Spa Lodge Motel due to the great hostess Simone. She remembered us including what milk we like. We were a little worried how warm we would be as there were hard frosts. When we got in the room it was toasty warm so no worries. Again the position of the motel for the pools is fabulous. Simone once again offered the loan of towels for them although we had already packed our own. The room once again was spotlessly clean and the bed was very comfortable and the curtains kept the room nice and dark. We have stayed at many places in Hanmer and even though the bathroom is basic the shower is the best we have had.We stayed just 2 nights for a recharge but are staying once again for a week in November. Looking forward to this and it cannot come quick enough.

  A great location in the village.Host very helpful.Very clean accommodation.However be aware that this is an extremely dated facility with very basic amenities that have not been updated since being built in ?1950’s.There appeared to be something living in the walls as there was scratching etc all night.Shower was very small, toilet sloped backwards? Due to a sloping floor.The reviews were very positive and the range of accommodation in the village is quite good - however early booking is required if you want more than one bedroom - that’s why we ended up staying here for a similar price to other more modern, pleasant places.A very disappointing stay for the price Simone Heinze, Owner at Spa Lodge Motel, responded to this review Dear Jill, thank you for your review. I am quite shocked though, I must admit. To say that one should be aware of this place... The motel was built in the early 70's and, as such, it is clearly advertised as an older type of motel. Furniture, beds and appliances have been modernised, but the layout is still from the 70's and that won't change. The units are spacious though, compared to more modern properties, which often lack room to move.In regards to something living in the walls - that is outrageous. There are always birds on the roof, especially early in the morning, and during the night it was probably a possum that you heard. Because the roof is corrugated iron, this noise transfers very easily, despite insulation. There is huge tree on the property next door and possums like jumping about there in the middle of the night. Finally, a two bedroom unit in a modern property this close to the centre of the village will cost you upwards of $350.You paid $211 and that is clearly quite a difference. You always do get what you pay for and it is simply not fair to book a cheaper, low budget motel and then complain that it has some shortfalls. It goes without saying that that would be the case.As you quite rightly said, the hosts are very helpful and the accommodation is very clean. A lot of people put more importance on this than on an odd bathroom layout. Kind regards, Simone

  fabulous, friendly older style motel,, with all amenities , a very short walk to the Hanmer springs spa complex and the village centre. comfortable beds, well equipped with all amenities, very clean. Unfortunately there was a regional power cut , but the owner allowed us to have an early check in and offered us water she had boiled on the bbq, so we could have a cuppa. Also, we were able to have a later checkout. was a sunny pleasant unit with outdoor seating. definitely stay again.

  Everyone looks happy here! The rooms are well appointed with plenty of eco friendly features. Very close via a short walk to the thermal pools and village .Would definitely return on our next visit to the area. Beds are comfortable and extra pillows supplied
