    Close-in and classy hotel

    We arrived by taxi from the TranzAlpine rail journey from Greymouth. The taxi was about 12 minutes. Checked in and went to Premier Apartment 302. It had a good size kitchenette and living area with dishwasher, full size fridge and a washer/dryer. View was ok and the room was quiet. Good size smart TV.Bed was comfy and the bathroom very nice, loved the under bench light that comes on at night when the sliding door from the bedroom is opened. Easy walking distance to cafes for brekie or coffees, the casino for those hoping to win enough to pay for their holiday!Also nearby is an Irish pub, with a guitarist/ vocalist the night we went. Meals were good, sizeable and seemingly freshly cooked not simply heated up.It’s about 10-15 mins walk to the centre of Christchurch which, admittedly isn’t a large city - approximately 400k population. Nice size and easy to get around by foot. We were there 3 nights and went into the city each day. A hop on hop off tram gives you the lie of the land. Spent some time in the earthquake museum and that was worth it.We didn’t eat at the hotel but understand it is good - we did utilise the bar though.Staff were very friendly and helpful and were interested enough to have a long chat re our trip and other matters. Two came to the room to advise us when we had trouble getting the dryer to do as it was told!     Loved our stay here. Ideally located. Staff at front desk were brilliant. Special mention to the lady at the breakfast reception desk, she was excellent, so helpful and friendly.Hotel room was large and immaculate. Great toiletries in bathroom.Bar area was good too with happy hour and other reduced price on drinks times.Would 100% return here.Thank you.     A beautiful stay! The hotel accommodated our last minute booking for our first night in NZ (after a stuff up with our hotel booking elsewhere in Christchurch). Staff were incredibly welcoming, rooms were clean and comfortable and the hotel was conveniently located. Included breakfast was open early and high quality and delicious. My only wish is that I could have stayed longer. This will be my go to when I return to Christchurch.     The Sudima is in an excellent location for touring the fascinating city of Christchurch. From the front door it's a short walk to the huge Hagley Park with its beautiful Botanic Gardens. Turn the other way and it's not far down to the center of the city and its Cathedral Square. The rooms are large and comfortable and well-equipped. Ours even had a small hot plate and cutlery and crockery so we could enjoy a private snack if it suited us. The breakfast offering was extensive and always enjoyable. The thing that sticks most in our minds was the staff on reception and in the restaurant, always helpful, friendly and cheerful.     The hotel not a great location. The room facilities not 5 star. Reception poor service.No international link to outside tv.
