    We stayed here for 5 nights, had booked a room on the upper floor with a private balcony. Views across the lake were beautiful. The room had 2 queen size beds and were really comfortable. The room was quite large. The bathroom was clean and tidy. It was my birthday and when we entered the room on arrival found a birthday card from management & staff & chocolates - a nice touch! They also provide complimentary bathrobes and slippers, another nice touch. We rang reception a couple of times to ask for a plate & knife for our cheese which was promptly delivered. The room was serviced each day with beds made & clean towels, coffee & tea replenished. The staff were attentive and polite. There is free parking in the basement. Had dinner in the hotel once which was OK, and also a buffet breakfast which had a good variety of dishes. Didn't walk into town as we had a car, but could see the road to walk back up was quite steep. The only negative I can think of was our shower pressure was quite slow. Other than that, we enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay again.

    Had a quick but good stay at Copthorne in a two bedroom apartment. The view was amazing, the staff helpful and the food from the room service was great.

    We were worried about staying here in view of an extremely negative review from a previous customer. We were pleasantly surprised to find a comfortable Hotel with excellent customer service (minor room issue rectified within an hour). The Hotel provides good secure parking at an additional cost. It is near the centre of Queenstown albeit a walk downhill. It was clean and the room was spacious. There was also a customer laundry.

    The Copthorne has obviously seen better days. While the location is good and the views are lovely, only if you make sure to book a room in the top floors, the fabric is in need of repair and renovation. The outer walls are no longer as white as they must have once been, and there are signs of mould everywhere. The carpet in reception and along the hall is old and worn and, judging by the accumulation of small bits of rubbish, did not receive a single clean during our 4-night stay. One corner of the cornice in our room was hanging down. The bathroom was functional but needs an update. The main restaurant offered only a very ordinary buffet breakfast supervised by a skeleton staff, and it was not open at all for dinner. The downstairs bar offered a small menu but took a long time to produce anything ordered. In spite of the hotel claiming to be fully booked, the bar never had more than a couple of customers whenever we went in. The only saving grace of the place was the staff who were invariably cheerful, pleasant and helpful, but it was obvious that there just weren't enough of them.
