Location

This hotel is located at the heart of Bergen just a few paces from the famous Bryggen, a series of Hanseatic commercial buildings that line the eastern side of the fjord. The surrounding wooden houses and the fish market provide further attractions that are well worth a visit. The main train station is just 1 km away.

Facility

Guests can enjoy the pleasant ambience of one of the 270 non-smoking rooms, including 6 suites, 10 single rooms and 89 double rooms. English-speaking staff at the reception desk in the lobby are ready to assist you with check-in and check-out. Amenities include a baggage storage service. Wireless internet access is provided in public areas (no extra charge). The tour desk offers assistance with booking excursions. The hotel has a range of facilities for guests with disabilities.     Wonderful service from a reception staff under severe pressure.

    OK, so there was a hospitality strike whilst we were there. The hotel staff, those who were actually working, did their very best. It was a shame the restaurants and bar were closed, probably as a result. Thus thr 4* review.HOWEVER, one person in particular and the rest of the reception staff, in general, were brilliant. I give particular praise to Lene, who worked very hard to sort out our bookings with Booking.com. She was amazing. Not just good at what she did, but also with a nice smile and friendly manner. I'm sure she wanted to kill me! Lene, thank you so much. I hope you got share of the choclates I left for you and your colleagues.

    Given the average reviews I was very pleasantly surprised by the Scandic Neptun. Checking in was easy and the young man welcoming us was friendly, efficient and very helpful - as well as booking a taxi to the airport for us he arranged for a packed breakfast for our early departure.The room was excellent. Large, comfortable, superb bathroom (with a real bath) and a large floor standing fan for when the room got a little warm. The beds were comfortable and having a settee to relax on was a real bonus.The location was good being around 10 minutes walk from the ferry terminal and much less to the harbourside. Breakfast was fairly busy but it was a Saturday morning, there was plenty of choice and the quality was good.Like most hotels in Bergen it was very expensive - for the cost of our two nights we could have stayed for three in the UK and had change.Found the lifts rather fiddly needing to scan the room key before selecting the floor number is a pain if you're carrying shopping and the key is in your pocket.I doubt if we'll ever return to Bergen but if we do I'd happily stay there again

    Very nice hotel apartment, not just a room. Everything very clean and up to date. Bathroom was the cleanest of any hotel I have ever stayed in. The entire property was exceptionally clean and well maintained. Front desk staff were all friendly and courteous. It was like they were happy to have us stay there and I don’t say that very often. Hotel was within easy walking distance to buses, the tram and the wharf where the fish market is. We didn’t need to go out of our way to get anything. I will definitely recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Bergen.

    Dirty rooms that fell apart

    The room was very dirty. Hair in the sink. A lot of dust. We asked and ordered cleaning every day but they did not comply. The lists and closets in the room fell off the wall.
