Stunning location; Service could be improved

My husband and I stayed at the Hotel Union during our two week trip through the Netherlands and Norway. Our anniversary fell on one of the days during our stay at this hotel, and we were hoping for the staff to add a little special treatment as other hotels of this caliber had throughout our extensive travels. Unfortunately, no acknowledgment was shown toward us. Other than the lackluster service, the hotel is ideally situated in Geiranger close to hiking trails and the town, where nice restaurants await. The best part of our stay at the Hotel Union was the incredible breakfast buffet spread and beautiful views from the dining room. Overall, fantastic location with excellent food, though staff could use some improvement in how to properly treat guests celebrating a significant milestone.

Stunning views, lovely spa but DISAPPOINTING room

Our family of two adult couples enjoyed a two night stay at Hotel Union. The views from the hotel were amazing and the spa was lovely and offered a variety of experiences. The employee who hosted the sauna experience was a true delight. I would recommend attending the sauna experience. I also enjoyed the Antique Automobile museum, located on the bottom floor of the hotel. Recommending the waterfall walk starting from the hotel and ending at the fjord shore with incredible views. I am leaving 3 and not 5 Star as the room was not up to expectations for a 4 star hotel. Our room (number 583) had a torn bedskirt, stains on carpet and a large crack down the wall. The rooms furnishings a veneered and d very dated. Most likely there are other rooms in the hotel that have been renovated, and my recommendation would be to ask for an updated room as ours ( other than the balcony) was disappointing. I would absolutely recommend Geiranger as a beautiful location and would consider staying at Hotel Union again but only if assured a room with improved details.

Only in town for an overnight trip, but was able to experience the service and style of this beautiful hotel. And a shout out to Gary in the restaurant, who made sure our late evening request was handled, and then he blew us away with his outstanding service. So glad we choose this jewel in Geirager. Don't miss the pool too!

I stayed here for one night and it was a lovely experience.(+)The hotel itself is historical. The building, the architecture and the interior inside is something to enhance the experience if you ever want to know a bit about Norwegian culture :) The staffs was kind, professional, and helpful. My room was comfortable and it feels like going back to time a bit. (-) I was hoping for a shuttle bus from the harbour unfortunately they don’t have it. I had a small luggage with me and backpack so it was fine to go up. But, if you have a big luggage, better to booked a taxi beforehand. Don’t do it on the spot because if you’re going on the tourist season, you might not get any taxi. I went 2 days ago and it was busy.Other than that, enjoy it! The hotel is so close to the waterfalls walk, Norwegian Fjords Centre, Zipline and Geiranger Church :)

Wonderful hotel on a stunning setting!

Absolutely a fantastic hotel. Stayed for two nights in August and was on the second floor with huge floor to ceiling windows facing the beautiful Geiranger Fjord. Room was really lovely, clean, spacious and so comfortable and light. Views were breathtaking. Had dinner two evenings and breakfast two mornings- a beautiful array of choices with something for everyone. Fresh and delicious. Hotel staff were absolutely lovely and so kind. I absolutely adore this place and found it such a lovely treat to stay here on this beautiful and refined space. Highly recommend! So beautiful!
