  We stayed in Oslo for the UEFA Women’s Champions League Final. We really enjoyed our stay. The best part was the combination of the perfect location, the excellent breakfast, and the perfectly adequate rooms. Everything felt comfortable and well balanced for the price. A few minor things could have been better: the cleanliness of the carpets in the hallways, the view into an office building atrium, and the missing — or sometimes carelessly refilled — milk for the complimentary coffee at reception.The hotel makes an effort to be environmentally friendly by not offering daily housekeeping, avoiding unnecessary towel changes, and reducing the use of small plastic containers both at breakfast and for the complimentary coffee.   I stayed at this hotel for three days. It’s located close to the central station and restaurants close by. The hotel room was clean and the bed was comfortable. The breakfast was included in the price and was excellent. The hotel staff was friendly. I highly recommend this hotel.   A change of scenery for me!

  I've been coming to Oslo for a while now with work and having relieved myself of my frustrating, tighter than a duck's bum hole employers, this trip was a bit of a last hurrah to say goodbye to all my lovely team in the Norwegian capital. As such, given it was on my own dime and booked at short notice, this meant I had to downgrade from my usual spots in one of the couple Thon chain places nearby. Shame, but needs must!The Karl Johan was a fine substitute. Right on the square next to the cathedral, it proved to be very accessible for trams and metro and a short walk up from the main station, so getting here from the airport on the train is an absolute doddle.Room was ok sized, but perfectly functional and at the rear of the building, so quiet and no disturbances while I slept on any evening. No complaints with the shower etc. Breakfast was included and wasn't a bad spread. Not quite what I've got used to on previous visits in other places, but it was more than adequate for my needs to fuel up at the start of the day. There's a bar and cafe on site and the entrance is via a small alley that opens into a courtyard, so you're not right on the bustling pedestrianised area it sits on. The latter seemed very popular when I was coming and going from my sightseeing and socialising. If you're looking for a central spot to stay in Oslo and your budget is lower mid-range, I'd highly recommend the Karl Johan. The price alone for location is very good.
