Avoid if you don’t want to hear everything that is happening in the hotel. We stayed in a family room that had a window on the inner hotel courtyard. You could hear all the noise like they were in your room 24h a day. There’s was a live performance until midnight. We were then woken up by someone playing the piano at 3:30 am and that lasted until 6am until the madness noise of the breakfast service started. It was unbelievable how loud the noise was. We couldn’t sleep at all. The bed and pillows were very uncomfortable. The room was not very clean. The only good thing about this hotel is the location.

Beautiful hotel, wonderful staff.

Recently returned from a wonderful week at this hotel. Let's start with two minor drawbacks. First, the proliferation of intrusive music in the lounge area and, worse, by the rooftop pool which, on one occasion, I had to leave as the piped 'muzak' was so annoying I was tempted to rip the speaker out of the wall. You will be pleased to know that I resisted the temptation.Second, no proper bar area. Yes, there is a bar, but the seating is either in the brightly lit lobby or at the dining tables where we had our breakfast every morning, so absoultely no atmosphere. We did not drink there once. But these are minor issues. Everything else was first class. Our room was spacious, well equipped with a huge, comfortable bed, and beautifully cleaned every day (keep an eye on the mini-bar prices though!)The only meal we took in the hotel was our daily breakfast: a lavish spread catering for every conceivable taste which set us up perfectly for the day ahead. The location of the hotel cannot be bettered, within easy walking distance of anywhere you might want to go in Casco Viejo, sitting opposite the beautiful cathedral on a square where there always seemed to be something going on.But, as is so often the case, it was the staff that turned a good holiday into a great holiday. Friendly, professional and efficient at all times, and when we had a minor problem with our room on arrival, this was sorted out as promised with minimal fuss. A special shout-out has to go to Priscila on the desk, who must be singled out for her cheery, can-do attitude and going above and beyond the call of duty to ensure our stay was everything we could have wanted. I would, without doubt, stay at the Central Hotel again.

Darwin made all the difference!
18 Apr 2026
We had a wonderful experience at Central Hotel Panama, and a big part of that was thanks to Darwin, one of the hotel's hosts. From the moment we arrived, Darwin went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. He gave us clear and helpful directions around Casco Viejo and — best of all — recommended the hotel's rooftop, which turned out to be an absolute highlight of our trip. The panoramic views of Panama City's skyline and the historic old town are simply breathtaking.Darwin's warmth, local knowledge, and genuine willingness to help made a real difference. It's rare to find someone so passionate about sharing the best their city has to offer. If you stay here, make sure to say hi to Darwin — he'll point you in the right direction every time. Highly recommend!!
