We stayed at the Grand Bijao from April 3–17 and had an amazing stay! The hotel was spotless, the room was very well maintained, the towels were changed daily, and the air conditioning worked perfectly. The beds were super comfortable (we used both double beds), and the pillows lulled us into a deep sleep evey night. The beach.... is STUNNING. You could walk for hours on that amazing beach and we did! The sand is absolutely magical. We also really enjoyed the 24-hour bar, which always had snacks available if you wanted something to eat before bed, such as hot dogs, sandwiches, nachos, and fruit cups. The snack bar next to the beach bar was another favorite of ours, offering hot dogs, nachos, burgers, a salad bar, and fresh fruit cups throughout the day.My only negative comment concerns the overuse of single-use plastic. I would often keep my utensils and bring them back with me so I wouldn’t need to use new plastic ones each time. Re-usable cups were used for the drinks, but they had disposable cups for the fruit which could be avoided. The staff were incredibly friendly; every day, we were welcomed with big smiles and hugs. We didn’t book any à la carte restaurants because the buffet had a different theme each night, and the food was plentiful and delicious. The service was also excellent, so we chose to eat outdoors and enjoy the warm breeze and tropical heat. We would like to extend a special thanks to JORGE, who made sure we never lacked anything. He is amazing! Other shoutouts include Yonelis, Eric (hermamo!), John ("el gordo", we love you!), Lilian at the buffet and Joséline (la jefa de la sangria), Sergio, Manuel, William, Paulino and Jose Luis at the pool bar. Thank you for a great stay. We miss you all already!

Definitely not a 5 star
22 Mar 2026
So my wife and I were there from Mar. 14 till the 21st. If you are looking for that 5 star experience you won't get it here. We arrived at approx 11am. Check in was OK but with definite language barrier which is the theme throughout this resort. Very few broken English speaking staff. Check in is 3pm or earlier with $35US per guest. If rooms are ready for guest, they let them in.Room was ocean view above the court yard and pools. This resulted in a very noisy room until entertainment ended at 10pm but then guests feel ok to linger until early morning hours blaring their own music and yelling and carrying on unchecked by staff.Food is sub par. Very rare to experience a hot meal, especially at the buffets and the BBQ food court. Buffet is frequented by birds sneaking through the netting. Witnessed them stealing food from tables, bird poop on chairs and floors. Staff spends more time chasing them than their own jobs."Best" food was Los Olivos, the Mediterranean a'la carte. Issue there is food is extremely salty and some was very dry.Our room was never very clean. Shower did not drain even after we filed 2 reports with the front desk. Floors not mopped clean and we had to call front desk or flag down the cleaning staff to get towels, wash clothes etc..Overall resort is in need of major repairs.Rules are also not enforced. Kids running rampant with no parental supervision. Use of portable speakers prohibited, but noted through out. Insufficient quantity of deck chairs and what they have are dirty or torn seat material. The positives are the beach is unbelievable, safe and clean. Best bar is the 24 hour sports bar on main level and the Iguanas are spectacular if left alone. Also they are hours from main attractions which will cost hundreds in transportation to get there and back which can be about 4 hours of your day in travel. Most bar staff have no clue how to make simple drinks.

Our Jan 24-31 visit
12 Feb 2026
This hotel is great during the week but gets totally packed on weekends with all the families getting out of Panama City on weekends. The Sushi Restaurant put on a great show and is recommended. The draft beer is all Balboa which is heavier. I prefer Panama Lite myself. The buffet was good, they had roast turkey one night and always some kind of seafood. Breakfast omelettes were tasty. Our room was great inside. We had the delux ocean view end unit in building 3, 3616 and we had the Juliet balcony overlooking the pool and a larger balcony we could sit at. Never went to the swim up bar because it looked like some folks never left all day and the kids and loud music were not what we liked. The beach is a mixture of fine gray and black sand. Not like Cay Coco. The ocean water temperature is so nice and warm that you don’t even shiver going in. We did some offsite dining at Pipa’s and Nico’s that we really liked. This is a small resort when compared to the DeCameron.

Beautiful quiet resort
01 Feb 2026
Quaint family resort on a beautiful beach.Resort is clean and modern. Most of the rooms do not have balconies. There is a selection of rooms that do, and the upgrade isn't too pricey.Rooms are nice and roomy and it was made up nicely every day.I visited the spa for a massage. It was reasonable priced and good service.Restaurants are good. There is no reservation system. You need to line up in the morning at the reservation desk. They will take reservations until the restaurants are full. Buffet is smaller but good. Nice selection for all meals. There is a snack bar at the pool with hamburgers and hotdogs, nachos and fries. The coffee shop in the 24/hour bar is fantastic. Beverages are good - there is a decent selection. Not a huge selection of fancy cocktails, but bartenders are fast and efficient. The pools are clean. We did not try the waterslides, however they were always busy with a lifeguard on duty. As per usual, people reserve their chairs, even though it is discouraged. We would just take a chair and if they showed up we would move. The evening entertainment lacks. There is no nightlife at the resort. It is very quiet. The beach is definitely a highlight. You can walk for miles. It is clean and soft sand. There isn't too many beach chairs on this beach, but the sand is so soft we sat on a towel. This is the only resort on the beach. Wifi worked well.

Fun resort at the Pacific Ocean
12 Dec 2025
The last 4 days in Panama, spent here at the resort in Bijao to celebrate my birthday. It's a beautiful resort at the Pacific Ocean, the sea is wild though, so you can't be on the beach the whole with the big waves, don't know why they call it the Pacific Ocean as it's not calm at all. The resort had everything I wanted, so no need to get off the resort, it was all inclusive, it had a buffet restaurant for all 3 meals, and a Japanese and Spanish restaurant where you had to reserve to get a table. There have many swimming pools, also a gym and spa with sauna which you also had to make a reservation to use the sauna, and they offered animation during the day and evening, plus their own bars and club. So perfect for my birthday celebration. I even joked serveral times that my birthday was coming up, if I get a birthday cake or something, and they said at the reception that you actually had to order and buy the cake in advance. The night shift guy at the reception, I believe his name is Adolfo or Antoni something with an A, who is a very kind person, took note of it and surprisingly I found a cake in the room when I got back to my room on my birthday. I really didn't expect it and was apparently arranged by him. I didn't know that until I met him on the moment I was leaving the resort to leave Panama as he told me if I liked the surprise. As I didn't know he actually arranged it, I already gave the tip previously in a tip box to thank the staff, but if I knew beforehand that he arranged it, I would've given the tip directly to him. I had no more cash left as I spent all before leaving as I didn't want to have foreign money while leaving Panama. Thank you again night shift guy, when visiting the resort again I'll give you your well deserved tip in your hand! We had a blast at the resort and would definitely visit it again for my next travels to Panama. Good service, good food and drinks at their restaurants and bars, and nice staff!
