Could be the best place in Cusco but it is being left to ruin

    rating21 Dec 2017

Well located, beautiful on the outside and with some rooms with the best views of Cusco (just a bit lower than Limbus bar) this hostel might prove disapointing. We spent 4 days there before going to Machu Pichu and planned to come back there after the treck for another 4 days. The first 4 were good, room was nice and we could shower but only with a very thin trail of water, very, very thin. We asked the owner to fix the water or change us to another room when we came back and she told us that she was going to reserve one of the new rooms which was supposed to be nicer. The owner and staff are supper nice and friendly but they rarely solve anything. When we came back, late at night, we were taken to the new room wich was unfinished and had not just the thin line of water, had a thin line of cold water only. Our previous room was taken and we were offered another one which was not clean (toilet paper on the floor, dust everywhere and hair on the bed and sheets) so we didnt stay and had to wander at 2 am looking for another place with a spare room. If you can contact them before booking and making sure you will be given a clean room with warm water I see no problem but if you wanna book and forget trouble maybe this one just isnt the place for you...

    For a very basic budget

The only good things about this place were the wifi connection and the rooftop bar.l which had a lovely view and cheap drinks. The wifi was the best I have come across in South America. The worker in the hostel was kind enough to book us a taxi and help us take our luggage all the way down to the taxi. The hostel is extremely difficult to find - taxi's cannot drive there so you are dropped in the main square and are made to walk uphill with heavy luggage. Nobody knew where the place was and it took us over an hour to find. This also made us feel like it was fairly unsafe to walk there at night. Apparently the place has two names but we only found this out on the last night. The rooms were FREEZING. Quite far from the main Cusco square.Overall, I guess if you are on a budget it is decent but there are many other hostels in the area which seemed better and were easier to locate.

Average.. A few pros and cons.

    rating12 May 2016

We had an interesting stay at this hostel, it's hard to rate as some aspects were great (the friendliness and helpfulness of the señora at the desk) and others not so great (quality of rooms)..+ wifi works reasonably well throughout hostel and rooms- Power points are pretty dodgy and faulty, need to jiggle charger to find the sweet spot to charge+ cute mummy cat and baby live in the communal outdoor area- breakfast is less than average, cheap bread, jam, instant coffee, orange fizzy drink+ warm showers and warm beds- horrible water pressure and no paper in the one shared bathroom the entire time we were there+ lovely Spanish speaking señora more than happy to help, unfortunately for some only in Spanish..- no curtains in the rooms, so depending where your room is you may be disturbed by bright light.. + they sell coca tea, and are happy to boil water for you- despite what their website states, there is no kitchen. So don't expect to be able to cook your own food. + Though they do have a great restaurant and bar upstairs (not great for budget travellers though)So depending on what you are looking for this may or may not be for you.. Amazing budget hotel/hostel!

    rating09 Dec 2015

I loved cusco! And in part because I had a great experience at the San Blas Hostel! This hotel is only 4 blocks from the main plaza where the bars/nightclubs and restaurants are. The hotel is cozy, charming and clean. Did I say it is super quiet there...a little cold...since there are no heaters in the winter. The rooms were comfortable with private bathroom and nice mattresses. Me and my friends agree on it.The amazing buffet breakfast was included with the stay. This is a extremely affordable hostel/hotel, beautiful and comfortable with amazing location.

Don't go there if you have other options

We made the reservation quite late for Cuzco at New Years Eve and there was not much to choose from. The nice thing of this hostel was that they let us in at 06:00 am and let us sleep somewhere even if the usual check in is later, somewhen in the afternoon. But we had to pay immediately when we woke up at 09:00 and the people at the hostel are not nice, they just try to sell you excursions and taxis at very high rates. We had warm water only once out of the 4 times we tried, and nobody fixed anything. They said they would but nothing happened and our room neighbours already have had the same water problems and no solutions for some more days.It was cold in the room. The breakfast was not much food and not good. The staff was not nice, apart of one young girl at the reception. And it was very noisy, because they opened a bar on the top of the last floor of the hostel. The construction was mostly being done at night with loud music. Unfortunately we had a room just under that and even after complaining to the hotel director nothing changed. He did not care at all.The place was not specially clean and in general it did not have anything good that I could mention.
