    Completely sub-standard and filthy.

    rating24 May 2026

I stayed here on two occasions before and after my Inca Trail and Amazon adventure. During the first stay, I already encountered a dirty bedspread. It was changed, and because the location suited me and the price was reasonable (therefore the two stars), I kind of just "put up" with the datedness, the fact that breakfast was often missing the basics such as butter, and some other "cosmetics".After checking in the second time though, I was completely "grossed out". Again, the top sheet was filthy, there were dark hairs on the bed and the floor, one pillow was mouldy, the other full of stains from other people's body fluids. There is nothing ok about this. Even after being given a different room, I found the mattress looked like it had been dragged in from the tip somewhere. Absolutely disgusting. I found Peru to be such a clean and well presented country, and of course Miraflores in particular. There have to be better places to stay than this, at a comparable price.

Good stay with charm and a great location

    rating15 Dec 2025

We stayed at this hotel as part of a G Adventures trip. Ass it was the start of our journey; I was a little apprehensive after reading some mixed reviews beforehand.I was pleasantly surprised. The hotel is centrally located in a safe area and has plenty of charm and character. The staff were friendly and helpful, which made our stay more enjoyable. Fresh water was provided, for us to fill our water bottles. While the hotel is a little dated, this can also be seen as part of its charm. Our room was spacious, clean and very peaceful, allowing for a comfortable stay.Breakfast was what we expected, with fruit, ham, eggs and cheese available. The only downside was that items sometimes needed to be replenished after bringing it to the staff's attention (they were a bit slow) and the coffee wasn't always hot.Overall, a comfortable and well-located hotel that suited our needs well at the start of our trip.

    Hotel Needs Updating

    rating12 May 2025

We were staying in Hotel Santa Cruz for four nights prior to an adventure tour of Peru. The room was very basic and tired but very clean and had air conditioning and a TV. Clean bathroom with minimal toiletries. Breakfast was pretty good with a selection of hot and cold dishes but was the same every morning. Staff very friendly and great location of the hotel but seriously needed an update.Internet is sketchy and requires frequent log-ins.

Need to take the bad with the good

    rating31 Dec 2024

We had two separate stays of several nights at this hotel separated by three weeks. There were some good points, but overall they were just about matched by the negatives. Firstly, the hotel is well located within the safe, affluent neighbourhood of Miraflores, with lots of restaurants within walking distance. Also easy walk to local sites such as Kennedy Park, the Indian markets, Huaca Pucllana historic site and the coastal walkway. Other tourist sites in central Lima an inexpensive ride on Uber. The hotel itself has a lot of charm, build around a large central courtyard. The staff also tried to be helpful, though were often not proficient in English, and potable drinking water was always available from a cooler in the bar. That was not always the case at other hotels we stayed at in Peru and more broadly in South America.Negatives: All up we stayed 5 nights and invariably breakfast service was chaotic. Very often things would run out and not be replenished. Not sure if it was just under-staffing but it was an ongoing frustration for everyone concerned. In our first stay, the room was small and basic to say the least, no drinking glasses, bare walls and floor, and a hole in the bathroom ceiling (presumably for ventilation) allowed us to hear conversations from the next room. On second stay we had a much larger, more comfortable room on an upper floor. I should add our queen beds both stays were comfortable.

    Try somewhere else.

    rating07 Nov 2024

I1d very happily stay anywhere else net time I visit Lima. The first room we stayed in was worn and odorous. There is little to no soundproofing in the rooms and you can reckon on hearing a lot of noise. The breakfast is simply a joke. They put out a dish of scrambled eggs that disappear within a couple of minutes and then it takes them about 20-25 minutes to turn up with more eggs. I asked for granola three time over 30 minutes and simply gave up in the end. They put out a plate of cheese and a plate of ham about every halt hour, regardless of how quickly the plates empty. Hardly anyone at the hotel can speak any English. The location is sort of nice and the guy at the front gate was very helpful, although no English vocabulary.
