    So glad it was free

    rating13 Apr 2026

We come to the area once a year for my wife's company picnic in Dollywood. This year we wound up staying at this hotel because my sister received a free night stay offer through a program she is a member with. Let me just say we were all glad it was free!! I was nervous when we first pulled up. The sign looked as if it was 60 years old and had survived a tornado. However, once in the lobby, I became a little hopeful because it was nicely decorated and the staff was really friendly/helpful. I will say despite their friendliness, there was a gentleman we had to go through at a different desk to get our parking pass and he was VERY pushy about his timeshare seminar!! Anyway, that hopeful feeling I had quickly disappeared we made our way to our room. It had a nice view but that's about all I can say! The room was not only outdated but everything was very worn down. We didn't linger in the room long before we left to hit the strip and I have regrets because by the time we got back and realized that there were no blankets other than the sheets on the bed, we were screwed! Also, the hotel sign says 2 pools and there is a photo on all platforms of this lovely pool along the river with a hot tub and gazebo next to it...yeah that doesn't exist! There was 1 tiny rinky dink pool that I don't even recall seeing in any photos online. There was a nice lounge area before you got to the pool that we did enjoy but again, it really needed some updating/upkeep. For example, there were light posts lining the railing and multiple posts were broken, leaning, or had the lights hanging off of them. The outdoor sofas had cushions missing and fire pits with missing knobs! Anyways back at the room we attempted to go to sleep but none of us could get comfy. Between the lack of blankets, air unit issues, and the hard beds no one got any rest. Then in the morning when we went to shower we found that the tub didn't drain! I have to say it's a real shame this place sucked so bad because the location is wonderful!! I guess you can't have it all but I'm just lucky we didn't spend any money staying here. So before you spend your money, you need to be aware that this place is ghetto!!! Very dated and maintenance has been neglected.

    rating22 Mar 2026

Location is great, conveniently located within walking distance to downtown Gatlinburg and staff was friendly. However, the room was seriously outdated and it’s evident that maintenance has been neglected. The kitchenette has a microwave and coffee pot that is not usable due to the outlets being the old 2-prong style (see pic). Lighting is horrible throughout the room with old fluorescent bulbs and no overhead light or efficient bedside lighting. Furniture is beyond acceptable wear and has decades of grime build up on dining chairs. Only 2 of the chairs have any cushion left. Bathroom sinks have damage that has not been repaired properly. The tub is by far the worst, peeling paint and mold throughout. The faucets are loose and well beyond intended use. Westgate Resorts, Owner at River Terrace Resort and Convention Center, responded to this review Hi Sara,Thank you for sharing your detailed feedback. We’re glad you enjoyed our convenient location and friendly staff. We sincerely apologize that your room did not meet your expectations and for the issues you encountered with the kitchenette, furniture, and bathroom. Your comments are appreciated, and we hope to have the opportunity to provide a better experience in the future.Best wishes,Social Media Support

    Nightmare stay.

    rating18 Jan 2026

I should have paid attention to the reviews on here, but because I got a good deal I figured I’d chance it - that was a mistake. This stay was problematic from the start. I will mention a couple of positives first (hence the 2 stars) - the rooms were clean enough and the staff were friendly. Beyond that this whole stay was a series of management failures - first we booked a King room and were put in a double room. When I walked the 17 miles back to the front desk from where we were put, they told me they had no King rooms available. They offered no refund or credit, but told me to come back the next day to ‘see if they had a room available’. After hiking the 17 miles back to the room I discovered (for the first of three occasions) that the key did not work. I took the elevator down but the door got stuck and so I had to go back down 5 flights of stairs and trek back to get a new key. After what amounted to a pitiful breakfast the next day (they don’t even provide real creamer for the coffee) I got back to the room, only to find the key again was not working. So I had to trek back. The elevator wouldn’t move again, and so back down the stairs I went. After making it back to the office I asked about the room and was told a room had been reserved for us (she gave me the number) and that it would be ready later in the afternoon. We came back later in the afternoon to move to our new room and were told they had changed the room assignment again. This time we were moved to an adjoining room which was small but seemed ok. We moved all of our things and went back out into town. When we returned late in the evening it was extremely cold. We had walked quite a long distance back to the room only to discover, once again, that the key was not working. Back to the office I went to get another key. When we finally got into the room all we could hear was the TV blaring from the adjoining room and what sounded like a party going on - at this point it was after midnight. We informed the front desk of the noise but apparently they did nothing. This was my first and last visit to this hotel. I come to Gatlinburg at least 5 times a year, but I won’t be coming back here. Westgate Resorts, Owner at River Terrace Resort and Convention Center, responded to this review Hello, Thank you for sharing your detailed feedback. Stay anywhere but here

    rating16 Jan 2026

It was a horrific stay They gave us a room that was Old the door was dragging and hard to close, There was a "Large tub" that took up half of room it was dingy and stained, the mirror had nasty streaks in several places where mirror has flaked off, and the bath tub/shower was nasty, and carpet had big stai s and sounded crunchy. There were maybe 10 cars at hotel and when I called front desk Holly said maybe I can find something else for you to look at. I finally said no Thanks and next morning checked out. I hated leaving early but sleeping in car would have been more comfortable Robert Jensen, General Manager at River Terrace Resort and Convention Center, responded to this review Hi!Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us.
