Location is key for average hotel

    rating24 Mar 2026

The main selling point of the hotel is the location, which is walking distance to all major points of interest in Poznań. The room was clean and fresh. However the shower pressure was very poor which may have been affected by the shower head. I am aware that hotels are involved in initiatives to prevent water wastage but I don't believe this should affect the comfort of the guest. Furthermore, I sent an email to enquire about the airport shuttle service and provided all the details concerning my arrival. I was told I would have to phone the hotel when I got for the airport and then they would phone for a taxi. This is patently ridiculous as the benefit of an airport transfer is having a car waiting for you. I was told the service would cost me 100PLN. In the end, I walked straight out of the airport into a taxi and was charged no more than 50PLN. Sadly my last night was disturbed by a group of youths in my floor who behaved in an appropriately loud manner well past 1.00 am. I did call reception and someone came up to ask them to be quiet but this had little affect and they continued regardless. The prices are reasonable but perhaps one should be aware the hotel will attract a certain sort of clientele with it. Dobry Hotel, Owner at Hotel Altus Poznan Old Town, responded to this review Thank you very much for your recommendation and for comments - both positive as well as negative. Rest assured that we took them very seriously into consideration and already taking proper steps to prevent them from future occurrence. Not Great!!!

    rating09 Sept 2025

This is not a hotel we would ever stay at again! We arrived around 1.5 hours earlier than the 3pm check-in time. My husband had emailed a couple of days before our arrival saying that we were due to arrive early and to ask whether we could leave our bags at the hotel until check-in. We received an email back saying that would be fine, and that if the room was ready early, we would be able to have it then. Great! We arrived and a friendly man on reception informed us that the room was not yet ready, and that we could leave our bags in the secure area at the rear of reception. The room was FULL of luggage and we were not offered any receipt or ticket for the suitcases we had left. We went out to explore Poznan, but I could not relax knowing that, although the room was locked, anyone could be allowed access by the staff, and nobody would have any clue if the wrong luggage was taken. We therefore made our way back to the hotel and waited in reception until our room was ready. Many people arrived to check in during the hour we were sat in reception, and all were turned away because, after apparently checking the system, every room was not yet ready. We soon realised that this was just the hotel's policy not to check anyone in early, but why tell us that we could have had our room early if it had been available?! People were arriving at 2.50pm, and still being told that their rooms were not ready. This seemed very petty to me and only caused the hotel problems at 3pm each day when new guests were all queueing at reception to check in. The receptionist called us over at 2.59pm to check in after having watched us sit in reception for the last 60 minutes. We were given a room on the 7th floor, and when we first went it, we were shocked at how basic it looked! But fine, we could cope for a few nights. I immediately went to put our passports and ipad in the safe, only to find that the only button that worked on it was the number 1!! We called reception to report the safe as faulty and a caretaker came up with the receptionist to look at it. He spent a few minutes fiddling with it before telling us it was faulty!! The receptionist said we could keep our valuables in the safe at reception, but we were not satisfied with that. We politely requested another room, and were flatly told that there were no other rooms available. My husband then asked for a full refund so that we could go to another hotel. The receptionist coldly told us to come to reception where she would get the manager. When we got to reception, we were miraculously told that another room was available. We were now given a room on the tenth floor, which at least everything worked in. Not a good start!!!To be fair to the hotel, the rooms were quiet and once we had gotten over how basic they were, we got used to it! There is a carafe in the rooms and a water filling station available on every floor. The other MAJOR gripe with this hotel is the lifts/elevators... This is a large hotel with 11 floors, therefore there are a lot of guests using the lifts, especially in the morning. There are two lifts - one larger, and the other TINY lift which is suitable for 3 people maximum. The large lift was out of order for the entirety of our stay and, looking back at other reviews, I can see that this is very often the case. Trying to catch a lift - suitable for only 3 people - from the tenth floor in the morning was nigh on impossible! We walked down to breakfast several mornings, and spent around 10 minutes each day waiting for the lift to be empty on the return to the room after breakfast!! This is not acceptable in such a large hotel.Breakfast was okay. Plenty of choice, but all pretty much mediocre. I wouldn't have paid for breakfast in this hotel had I known what it would be like. So, rooms basic but okay. Location good. Staff, sometimes friendly, sometimes not - it very much depended on the individual staff member! Breakfast mediocre. Pillows very old and no support. Would we stay here again? NO!! Perfect choice for a short stay in the city

    rating28 Aug 2025

Central location, 15 min walk from the main train station. Direct trams bound to Termy Maltanskie Aquapark, Pools & Spa stop right outside the hotel – very convenient! Stary Browar shopping mall only 10 min away. The rooms are much bigger than the description says. There's enough space for a lot of luggage, which I appreciated. Beds are simple but very comfy. TV with lots of channels. AC works fine. Everything looks nice & clean. I had a room on the 9th floor so the view over the city was rather impressive, with airplanes flying right in front of the window (the airport is located close to the city). The hotel restaurant is worth a visit and it offers a variation of Polish and regional cuisine. Dishes look lovely and are very tasty! (The only thing that feels a bit odd is that the restaurant isn't separated from the hotel lobby. Why?)The rooms aren't quite soundproof, so you can clearly hear noises coming from the adjacent rooms & the corridor. Curtains somewhat short so there's a lot of daylight coming in in the morning. Some noises from the street (trams, ambulances, etc.) can be heard, too. – But despite it all, I had a very good sleep every night! Room - 60 eur, we paid extra 70

    rating24 Aug 2025

The hotel has a great location, a kettle in the room, and welcoming staff, which were definite positives. However, the price structure was disappointing: 60 EUR for the room plus another 70 EUR for the dog, parking, and breakfast for two people feels far too expensive. There’s no real benefit for guests with dogs, also there’s no hotel parking available. The restaurant was also overpriced compared with local options nearby, which offered much better value. 60 PLN per person. Finally, the room we were given had probably the worst possible view, which made the overall experience less enjoyable than expected. Dobry Hotel, Owner at Hotel Altus Poznan Old Town, responded to this review We thank you for your review and positive comments regarding our city center location, staff service and room equipment. We sincerely regret that we were unable to meet your expectations. Please be advised that all prices for all our services —including hotel parking, pets, restaurant menu and breakfast — are clearly and transparently published on all booking portals prior to make the reservations. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience and hope that we will be able to provide high-quality services during your next stay. With regardsJustyna KyderGeneral Manager

Very good, but minimalist in design

    rating21 Nov 2024

This hotel was easy to reach - just three stops on route 5 Zawady or some other routes - by tram from Poznan Glowny. The hotel is opposite the Ratajazaja stop.Staff were friendly, especially a bearded male in his early 20s.The hotel has two lifts but they can be slow when the hotel hosts a conference as it did on my second night. My sixth floor room was generously proportioned with a very comfortable Queen bed, albeit with the usual two side by side doonas/duvets.The wardrobe had a safety deposit box almost at floor level. Odd.There was a desk and lamp but only one chair. There were two small round tables that served as bedside tables but they lacked chairs. There was lighting near each side of the bed.The large TV had one English speaking channel. The heating/aircon was unable to be changed from its set 20 degrees Celsius. This was suboptimal. The small bathroom had a hairdryer. Hot water was extremely so but there wasn't a rainwater showerhead. The large mirror had good lighting at top which is important for applying makeup or for males, shaving. The towels were not bathrobe size but were adequate.Tea, sugar and a kettle were in the bedroom.A carafe was to enable obtainjng water from the refill station in the hallway but it did not fit the dispenser.A portable suitcase shelf was a handy feature.Blackout curtains and WiFi worked well. The hotel lacked a minibar.Overall this hotel was a bit too minimalist - Scandinavian - for my liking.Breakfast was available for PLN65 per person. I instead patronised the convenience store 30 metres from the hotel across the single tram track. The hotel is very close to the Old Town that when I stayed had just commenced the annual Christmas markets. Hanna Lasoń, Marketing at Hotel Altus Poznan Old Town, responded to this review Thank you very much for your review and additional comments which help us to improve our services on daily basis. We are very happy that you appreciate the stay with us and we hope to host you again. As a 3* hotel we deliver rather basic equipment and we do not have all the amenities that are obligatory for 4* (such as refrigerators or minibar). Anyway, from the above-standard offer, we provide our guests with tea and coffee making facilities, a private safe, and an iron and ironing board in each room. Hoping to welcome you back, see you soon. With regards,Justyna KyderGeneral Manager
