  Lovely hotel in central Warsaw

  I was quite surprised to read the negative reviews of this hotel as, in my opinion, it's a lovely 4* property in a fairly central location and great value for money. My room was clean, spacious, comfortable, quiet, and modern. The breakfast was excellent, staff were polite and helpful, and the whole experience was great. Thank you, and I would recommend it.   My reservation was cancelled to sell the room at a higher price—and I was kicked out in the night

  I DON’T RECOMMEND LEONARDO ROYAL HOTEL WARSAW. It is an unsafe and unreliable establishment where, at any moment, they might simply cancel your reservation and turn you out onto the street in the middle of the night.I booked a room with free cancellation and noted in the comments section that I planned to check in late (around 11:30 PM–11:50 PM). According to the hotel's own policies, in the case of any payment issues, they are required to contact the guest and provide notification of the cancellation.But what did this hotel do? Nothing.My booking was simply cancelled without any warning and the room was resold to football fans at a higher price.I arrived at the hotel at 11:45 PM after a long journey—accompanied by my elderly mother and three suitcases. At the front desk, I was informed in a rude and abrupt manner:«WE CANCELLED YOUR RESERVATION. THERE ARE NO FREE ROOMS. YOU MUST LEAVE THE HOTEL."When I asked where I should spend the night in a foreign country, the response was:"THAT IS YOUR PROBLEM. WE CANNOT HELP YOU."No help. No attempt to resolve the situation. Absolutely no customer service.What was particularly upsetting:— The complete lack of communication. No one gave me any information about the cancellation (neither via SMS nor email). — A violation of the hotel's own policies (which mandate that they must notify a guest if a reservation is cancelled). — The staff's boorish and humiliating behavior. I was made to feel myself like a homeless person begging for a spot in a shelter, despite having booked a "Superior" room. — A hostile attitude toward international guests—they didn't even attempt to speak to me in English, communicating solely in Polish. However, I do not speak Polish and could barely understand what they were saying. It seems they are not exactly thrilled to welcome foreign guests. — An absolute disregard for guest safety—they simply turned us out onto the street in the middle of the night, offering absolutely no assistance. I was left with the distinct impression that this hotel’s priority is to sell rooms at a higher price, rather than to honor its obligations to guests who have already booked. My family and I have stayed at hotels of this chain many times in different countries, but after this incident, the trust was completely destroyed.IF YOU VALUE SAFETY AND NORMAL SERVICE, CHOOSE A DIFFERENT HOTEL. HERE, THEY MIGHT SIMPLY KICK YOU OUT ONTO THE STREET—IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT, AND IN THE RUDEST POSSIBLE MANNER. We are sincerely sorry that you perceived the situation in such a negative way; however, we must clarify several points to provide a complete picture of the events.Firstly, we would like to emphasize that our hotel never cancels reservations to "resell rooms at a higher price." The cancellation of your booking was strictly due to a technical issue with the pre-authorization of the credit card provided. According to our policy, if the payment method is invalid, the system may automatically cancel the reservation to make the room available for other guests.Regarding the service on-site, our colleague who assisted you specifically asked at the beginning of the conversation whether you preferred to communicate in Polish or English. The entire interaction was conducted in a way that ensured full mutual understanding. We are surprised by the claim of a "language barrier," as the communication seemed clear at the time.Most importantly, we must firmly deny that you were left without assistance. Our staff member made multiple attempts to help you find alternative accommodation in nearby hotels. Unfortunately, these offers of help were repeatedly ignored, and you declined to engage in a constructive conversation regarding a solution.We always strive to ensure the safety and comfort of all our guests, regardless of their nationality.
