  What a great hotel and SO PET FRIENDLY! Joao and all of the staff were great. We were greeted with two gift baskets for our Ruby and Gus. Joao took the time to give us an overview of Evora along with a of the old walled city with certain attractions highlighted. Anything you would want to do in Evora or the Alentejo - they can hook you up. The room was lovely and clean and comfortable. Breakfast was great as well with dedicated indoor space to eat with the dogs away from the other diners or outside on the patio. We cannot recommend this hotel strongly enough!

  A Gem in Évora – Highly Recommend

  Albergaria do Calvário is a lovely boutique hotel that ticks every box. Rooms are well-appointed, spacious, and comfortable – exactly what you want after a day of exploring.The highlight for us was João Carlos, who greeted us on arrival and set the tone for the whole stay. Warm, knowledgeable, and genuinely helpful – his restaurant and activity recommendations were spot on and made a real difference to our trip.Breakfast was a treat: fresh, local products served in a relaxed setting – simple but done really well.The location is perfect. Tucked right alongside the Roman city walls, you’re within easy walking distance of everything Évora has to offer. It’s a compact town, so the hotel’s central position means you can leave the car parked and just wander.If you’re heading to the Alentejo, this is where to stay.

  Attractive hotel

  Delightful small and attractive hotel just inside the walls of Evora. Easy walking from here to the centre. As well as breakfast you can also eat here most evenings. The staff were all friendly and helpful. We had a room with a balcony and enjoyed sitting there watching the swifts and swallows!

  Wow!! The reviews on trip advisor and our experience were completely different. At best it’s a 2 star hotel. It’s clean but the room was very ‘tired’. The tiles were worn and stained, the rug was frayed, the soap watered down, the shower was mouldy and additional expense if you wanted an extra coffee. The breakfast was adequate but nothing exceptional. The 5 star across the road was much cheaper and had a gym and indoor pool. We had decided to get a suite but it was definitely not worth the extra money. My recommendation is to give this one a pass!!
