It's a nice hotel, that's only if you skip Breakfast

    rating05 Sept 2026

The room was fine. The dinner was good. The staff were very helpful. Breakfast was poor. Far too busy and the eggs with avocado was disgusting. It's a nice hotel, that's only if you skip Breakfast....... Agência BrandChoice, Marketing at Convento do Espinheiro, Historic Hotel & Spa, responded to this review Thank you for sharing your experience. We’re pleased to know that you enjoyed the room, dinner and the helpfulness of our team.We were, however, surprised by your perception of breakfast, as it is one of the experiences we take particular care over. Our breakfast offering is intentionally generous and varied, with a broad selection designed to suit different tastes and preferences. Naturally, individual choices may not always meet every guest’s expectations, and we regret that the items you selected did not appeal to you.We hope you will consider returning to the Convento do Espinheiro and experiencing our breakfast again, perhaps discovering other options within the selection. The Convento do Espinheiro Team

    Small rooms and non-existent service

    rating07 Jun 2026

The service is bizarrely non existent. It felt like there was no manager on duty or in charge. I couldn't get towels. I couldn't get coffee. The rooms are small and on top of that they miscommunicated on my room type. They miscommunicated regarding my reservation at the reservation and then there was nobody in charge to be able to make the situation right. So, we ended up without a reservation. When I went to the restaurant itself their English was poor but they said to speak with the front desk. The front desk had told me to speak to the restaurant manager. And so on. Filipa Oliveira, Other at Convento do Espinheiro, Historic Hotel & Spa, responded to this review Dear Richard, Thank you once again for having chosen Convento do Espinheiro and for taking the time to evaluate your experience. As per my e-mail on the day of your check-out, we truly regret that your stay fell short of your expectations. I believe the confusion regarding the room type resulted from the fact that you had initially reserved a double room for two adults, and due to our high occupancy, it was not possible to accommodate you with three children in the same room that had initially been assigned (for two). Regarding the restaurant reservation, although my colleagues recommneded our restaurant, we perfectly understood that you had a preference for a restaurant in the city centre, which unfortunately we did not manager to book for you. It was therefore no longer possible to seat you at Divinus, but we were delighted to offer you a transfer into the city centre to dine at a restaurant of your choice. On the morning of your check-out the next day, I had requested that my colleagues call me at your check-out to meet you personally as our guests' feedback is very valuable to us. However, I was very sad to learn that you had not returned to the front desk. Thank you once again fo ryour feedback. Kind regards, Filipa Oliveira, Operations Manager
