The Hotel has a feeling its ran out of resources, and just scraping through. Needs a good sorting. Poorest Breakfast I have come across in a 4☆ hotel. Waiters don't pay attention.Breakfast Choice dismal A serious lack of maintenance. Reception staff good.Would I come back. (No)

Hotel ok. Eating in the restaurant: interessting and nice typical menu but awfull to eat. Bife is lile bones, beside dishes cold...Hotel is nice, but restaurant is not to be recommend. Next time - we are at leat one a year in this region - we perhaps sleep un the hotel but never more we will eat here again.

Very good staff; low-level guests

Wonderful welcome at reception desk; cosy room, good outdoor pool; but when you are resting outside you can still hear cars passing by on the near IC-2; couples talking very loud, some children behaving badly. Spoils all the effort from the very very good staff. Guests should be obliged to behave.

I would have loved to give this hotel a very good rating but I don't think it has reached that level yet.Take into consideration that high quality accommodation in remote areas like Alpalhao are quite scarce, hence I have given an average rating.Reception staff were very welcoming and friendly. Can't say the same for the restaurant staff (one waiter) which seemed to me was being overworked between the kitchen and serving tables. Understandably at times, there was shortage of some food like scrambled eggs, coffee, etc.The hotel has an indoor pool which we were looking forward to using but the temperature wasn't acceptable. Quite cold and not clean. The sauna was perfect and as expected but the Turkish sauna wasn't functioning the way we would like. We did toggle with the temperature gauges but it never seemed to be steamy enough for our liking. The Jacuzzi was probably the best part of the spa. Big enough for 4 and very warm. The rooms were very tidy and comfortable. The heating worked well but there was a lack of TV channels. Even though there was a mini bar, it was empty and not plugged in.The wc had a shower which wasn't of high pressure but the water was hot enough.Even though it was suggested to us, we did not have dinner in the restaurant and chose to "A Regata" which was a restaurant very close to the hotel. The food there was to die for. Traditional cuisine at its best. I recommend the wild boar, and pigeon broth as well as starters and desserts. The neighbouring town Portalegre is worth visiting, in particular the museum of tapestry which is in my opinion, a national treasure. Ask for the lady guide who is very friendly and professional. All in all, Monte Filipe hotel is a pleasant hotel which needs some attention to detail to have a better rating. Still, considering all offers in the area, it may be the most advisable accommodation.

The hotel is very modern and clean.Helpful staff and we ate our evening meal there, it was delicious.Asked the waiter for a recommend for a good Portuguese red wine and what he picked was excellent.Would have no hesitation to recoomend the place and great value for money
