  Medieval disappointment

  €200 a night for this is simply indefensible.The "Superior Family Room" is nothing more than a standard room with two military-style folding beds thrown in for children aged 10 and 13. Thin mattresses, one pillow per adult, zero comfort. If sharing one cramped room with your family on camp beds sounds relaxing, this is the place for you.Cleanliness was mediocre at best, and attention to detail was almost non-existent. Four guests, one spare toilet roll, and nobody thought to replace it. That says everything.Forget about a good night's sleep. Every conversation, every door, every footstep from neighbouring rooms becomes part of your stay. Bring earplugs.The website photos are wildly flattering. The family room bears little resemblance to the impression they create, and the "pool" is closer to an oversized bathtub than anything worthy of a luxury hotel.Estremoz is beautiful—we've visited several times and will certainly return. Unfortunately, we won't return to this hotel. It hides behind a stunning castle, professional photography, and genuinely friendly staff, but none of that makes up for a poor product at a premium price.History belongs in the castle.   Fantastic place with a great atmosphere

  What a fantastic place with a great atmosphere and welcoming staff! My wife and I were traveling for business, I wish we could have stayed another night... The views are fantastic. Hélder was our super friendly bar tender and waiter, we shared some good laughs. The dinner was terrific, with lots of great choices. We enjoyed the breakfast spread as well. Did not get to use the pool but the showers and bathrooms are very nice. The bed was very large and very comfortable, the attention to how the sheets of the bed were folded was impeccable. Highly recommend this unique place to stay and enjoy for longer than one night!

  This castle pousada is marvelous. History everywhere you turn. Friendly helpful staff, amazing breakfast, sweet swimming pool. The tower was a great spot to climb for sunrise and sunset views. The church just next door had a beautiful Easter Sunday service with Portuguese guitar. The hotel was comfortable, beautiful, and in a marvelous hilltop location for views that extended 360 degrees. We had a little snafu with the room (wanted a twin, but that didn’t get into the reservation information) and they moved us as soon as they had a room open up.

  Dangerous Bathroom

  Avoid room 206 in this hotel. The bathroom is so small and cramped that it is difficult, to the point of dangerous, to attempt to access the shower over the bath. It's an accident waiting to happen. Ludicrously, there is so little space that you cannot sit straight on the toilet but must incline at an angle to find a gap for your knees. This is a very old building and the bathrooms are different sizes and shapes.As we were on a tour, the bathroom became an item of interest for other tour members. One of them kindly allowed us to use their bathroom the following morning.Our excellent tour leader insisted that the desk manager himself come up to the room and demonstrate how to get into the shower. It was quite a show and he admitted that it was not easy.Management declined to take any action, claiming that the hotel was fully booked. They did admit however, that issues have been raised with this room before.   Historic Hotel With Antique Objects

  Hotel is 7 minute walk from town center where every Saturday morning a large market is held. The market allowing a couple to obtain a very local experience.
