This former convent Hotel was a wonderful place to stay. The staff was attentive and kind. The surroundings were beautiful and comfortable and plentiful. We enjoyed ourselves immensely and stayed an extra night! :)

The room category doesn’t correspond to the price

Dear General Manager of Pousada Convento Beja,My husband booked a room at your hotel well in advance, on 17 October 2025. The reservation was for one Superior Room at the price of 153€ per night.Unfortunately, this price does not correspond to the quality of the room we were provided with.When we checked in on 27 December 2025, we reviewed the prices on Booking.com and discovered that the rate for this room category on our dates was significantly lower. After checking the photos on your website, it became clear that we were accommodated in a Standard Room, which costs approximately 75€ per night for the same dates.The room consisted of only one room, which confirms that it was not a Superior category. In addition, the following amenities were missing: • Hair conditioner • Body lotion • Kettle with coffee and tea • Any amenities typically expected in a Superior RoomWe paid 153€ for a room that did not meet the booked category or price. Breakfast was also not included, whereas if we had booked the same room one day before arrival, the price would have been 75€ + 30€ for breakfast.My husband approached the reception desk requesting a correction or change of the reservation, but our request was refused.This is the first time in my life I have encountered a situation where prepaying results in significantly worse conditions and a higher price.Please check the category of room No. 214, as it is clearly a Standard Room, not Superior.Additionally, the hotel was extremely cold. At 7:00 a.m., when I went to the reception, the corridor was completely dark, with no lighting and no heating.This has been the worst hotel experience of my life.I kindly ask you to review this situation and provide an explanation and appropriate compensation.Sincerely, Olga Skyba

A nice area around the garden pool

A very fine pousada in an old convent - so there is very much space everywhere - including big rooms and bathrooms. Reception was helpful. Breakfast buffet fine - an even possible to sit outdoors for breakfast.Big beds, no noise, beds are a bit hard. No noise at night.

Luxury and relaxation in a historic building.

This is one of the best Pousadas we have stayed at. It is magnificent and very spacious, having a small number of bedrooms but huge spacious areas. Well done Pestana on not ruining the magnificence of the building while creating an exceptionally comfortable, indeed luxurious, hotel.The bedrooms are the old monks's cells (Yes although it is called a convent, it was Franciscan monks who stayed here). We stayed on the second floor and had a huge vaulted ceiling so the room remained remarkably cool despite it being 30C outside. The breakfasts were super reflecting some of the local produce.Beja is very much worth a visit. It is unpretentious but contains an amazing array of wee museums that are worth visiting. We will certainly return.

A good place for a weekend.

A welcoming staff, a very nice hotel situated in the heart of the city, near walking distance from local attractions. Very clean environment; a nice breakfast offer. Room was a bit on the small side; price a bit on the high side. A very good place for a night or weekend.
