  Stylish stay

  What an interesting place to stay. The hotel is worth a visit just for the building. Large room with efficient air conditioning, sizeable bathroom and a balcony overlooking the garden. Very good choices available at breakfast. So many lounges to relax in or if not the swimming pool is there to be used. I would have liked tea and coffee naking facilities in the room and perhaps the car parking could have been better sign posted. The service was always excellent.

  Nice pousada in quiet area

  A very quirky pousada, hardly any two rooms are the same. Located in a quiet square next to the Ducal Palace and close to the main town square with nice places to eat. We had one evening meal here which was ok and the daily breakfast was also fine. Rooms were clean with nice balconies, the suites (I didn't have one!) were very spacious but had no balcony so I was happy with the room I was allocated.All in all a nice place to stay for a few days.   Great location in historic building

  The pousada is right next to the ducal palace at one corner of the Terreiro do Paco square. A short walk to just about everywhere in town. Parking on site was easy during our visit in January. We booked a family room to get a bit more space but unfortunately discovered we’d been allocated the room with the narrowest balcony and least light with only one set of glass doors for our 7 night stay despite other rooms of the same type having additional windows. A bit disappointing. Bed, bedding and towels were up to usual pousada standards however and the large bathroom with separate bath and shower was excellent. There were two very comfortable chairs. Cleaning standards were great. Unlike other pousadas there was at least some variety at breakfast each day. An enjoyable stay – just a little disappointed with the room allocated.   Very nice Pousada

  This is a very nice place to stay. It is very quirky being an ex nunnery. All the rooms appear to be different and all with great character. We stayed as part of a Titan tour group. Food was very good. Breakfast was very good although there was not enough room for us and even less when other guests joined our breakfast area, several people were displaced to an alongside room and staff complained about us for this.Very nice swimming pool, a little odd as it had a shallow end at both ends, but still good anyway. Gardens are nice and quite extensive although somewhat barren.The pool area has a bar but this is badly serviced. If no-one there (there rarely is) a phone is provided which links to reception for them to send a barman. I used this, after another 15 minutes no-one came so rang again, this time giving my order, after another 20 minutes still no-one came and as I was giving up he arrived with the order which was wrong, he left that order and went off promising to return but never did.I also wonder about hotel security there. It is in a safe area but reception is not manned in the evening or overnight, there is an indoor barman to help but he can never be found. Anyone can walk in from the street and do their mischief!Having made those poor points, overall it is a delightlful place to stay and is recommended.   Beyond expectations

  Many historic details have been preserved in this unique hotel. Our suite was spacious and elegant. The location is peaceful and not far from Évora and other historic sites in the Alentejo. Most impressive was the dedicated staff--Sra. Sandra and Sra. Carina, who, during the evening of Monday, 28 April--the day of the nationwide blackout--worked tirelessly to feed a dining room full of guests with the limited resources at their disposal. The hotel should recognize their heroic efforts that ensured guests would not go hungry that night, in spite of a national emergency.
