    Excellent

A beautiful location with great views over Alentejo. On our arrival, something had broken down in the kitchen so lunch was limited but the artisan toasted sandwiches we were able to have were excellent. By the evening the kitchen was back online and dinner was superb. It's a fixed menu but the options were fine and quality was excellent. The overall design of the hotel is modern and restrained - very relaxed style. The staff were friendly and helpful. It is also very dog friendly. The location is incredibly quiet.

    A weird hotel check-in experience

    rating26 Jun 2025

💳 A weird hotel check-in experience — and a reminder to always question thingsI recently checked into a hotel in Portugal — reservation was fully prepaid via my travel agency, no surprises expected. But at the front desk, after showing my ID, they also asked for:My email addressMy phone numberAnd… my credit card details, including the CVV.I did ask why, since the room was already paid. I got a vague answer (“just procedure...”); I did see the receptionist type the CVV into their computer. I later spoke with another receptionist, who did delete the CVV from their computer after I insisted, but let’s be honest — it’s just 3 digits. It could’ve easily been memorized or written down.I wasn’t comfortable with the whole situation. So I:Monitored my credit card in real time through my banking app.Made sure every online payment needs my manual approvalCalled the bank to flag what happenedDecided to replace the card after my trip, just to be safe🔐 Lesson learned: even in professional settings like hotels, don’t be afraid to politely push back when something feels off — especially when it involves your financial data.

    Very disappointing stay

    rating13 Aug 2024

The property, while quite isolated, is in a pleasant elevated position giving nice country views from the rooms and pool/main terrace, and the architecture is simple, but modern and quite attractive. Unfortunately that's where the positives end. This property has two main problems. The materials used (especially in the guest rooms) are of a very poor quality, and terrible maintenance has given the whole property a very run down feeling. Outside, signs and lights are broken, the building needs painting, and litter can be found in the grounds. Lots of the outside paving is stained and the general cleaning of the common areas is very poor (scuffed walls and skirting, and filthy door mats are just two examples). The pool and surrounding area is too small in my opinion for a property of this size. Breakfast was OK but quite basic. Yes, we stayed in peak season, but with a cost of Euro 330 per night for a double, the standard fell way, way below our expectations. This property can no longer trade on its travel awards from 2015-17 and needs serious investment and attention to bring it back up to an acceptable standard..

Perfect experience in the middle of Alentejo

    rating07 Jul 2024

We stayed at Sobreiras Alentejo Country Hotel May 2024 for a weeding near by, as a big group with friends and family (about 60 people from UK). Sobreiras staff raised to the expectation and delivered a fantastic weekend with attention to detail, support to guest and great food and ambience. Everyone loved the stay and it is definitely considering coming back for a longer period. Thank you Lucia and all the other staff for taking care of us like you did. 5 starts!

Hostel value for boutique hotel price

    rating29 May 2024

I can not recommend this hotel at all. Lets start with the room: the inside is cheap and worn out and the bathroom dirty. There is no door between the sleeping area and toilet, so not kuch privacy there.Than, the location is really remote. Which would be fine if the amenities are well. But there is literally nothing to do and little to eat at the hotel. Dinner is served at 19.30, which is really late when travelling with small kids. During the day you can order salads from 12.30-15.00 and some toasts till 18.00. That’s it. And the nearest town Grandola is 15 minutes by car, on an unlit road. The common room is very noisy and too small for the amount of guests. So you need to sign up for a breakfast and dinner slot. When waiting for you breakfast there is not even a water kettle and a nespresso machine in the room, which I think are cheap and basic amenities for hotels of these price ranges. Somehow the pool isn’t inviting as well, there is little shadow and feels a bit sterile. All in all, the experience was not good. The hotel really needs to invest in maintenance and some basic amenities like water kettles, nespresso machines, larger common area, more f&b options, atmosphere and maybe think about some more leisure options on the premises. Now its just hostel quality for boutique hotel prices.
