The hotel is more good than bad - the location, horses and spa/swimming pool are exceptional, but there are still things to be improved upon. Mainly, we found that the lack of room service to the part of the hotel we were staying in (solar dos Lusitanos) a real problem. You have to go and collect the food from the hotel, and with small children this is an inconvenience. They should find a way to deliver the food to all parts of the hotel, other hotels are able to do this and also make sure the food arrives hot! Tea and coffee making facilities would have been appreciated, as we are so far from the main hotel, and more extra blankets as it was cold this time of year. What the main space of the hotel is missing, even though it’s been designed in a charming way - is a dedicated bar area that is not in the restaurant. A separate space to have a drink in. Surely in a hotel this size there would be space for that. And maybe another indoor space like a lounge for families to relax together in. But as I said before the location is stunning, also the staff are great.

Great Food, Relaxing Atmosphere & Amazing Nature Experience!

We had an amazing stay! The staff were warm, friendly, and made us feel right at home. The food was delicious, the pool was perfect for relaxing, and the kid loved every minute — especially spending time with the horses. Beautiful surroundings, great service, and a peaceful atmosphere made it a perfect family getaway.

Horse breeding stables on hotel grounds

Interesting resort in a remote area of Portugal. Famous Horse breeding program and stables are a speciality. The hotel is located on the same site. Also have a falcon hunting and breeding program. Rooms are comfortable. Restaurant good. Large outdoor pool, but not heated warm enough to use in cool weather. We were there in May and the western house martins were nesting with circular mud nests, under the eaves of the buildings in large numbers. In the daylight they were constantly flying. A very interesting sight.

A charming & comfortable hotel

Vila Galé Collection Alter Real is a charming hotel located at the Royal Stud Farm (1748) The hotel opened in 2020 after a meticulous renovation and offers comfortable 77 rooms and equestrian tourism. The hotel has an outdoor pool, gym & spa, and a large indoor pool with yakuza, sauna & Turkish bath. Free parking. Furnishings and decoration provide a very nice atmosphere. Service is efficient and friendly.Our spacious room had desk & chair, air-conditioning, TV, table & chairs, no coffee & tea facility, fridge, a good twin bed, and a wardrobe with safe. Window can be opened but don’t have mosquito screens. We had a nice bathroom with washbasin, toilet & shower. All was very clean. A good breakfast is served: eggs made to order, cold cuts & cheeses, bread & rolls, cereals & fruits, milk & yoghurts, juices & preserves, croissants & pastries, tea & coffee.Hotel Vila Galé Collection Alter Real is a charming and comfortable hotel, and we had a pleasant stay. Highly recommended.

A lovely few days get away in stunning nature and lovely hotel

Our recent stay at Vila Galé Collection Alter Real was really remarkable, enjoying the stunning surround nature and excellent hospitality. The hotel's estate, with its breathtaking surroundings, horses grazing, and great indoor and outdoor pool areas, provided a perfect setting for a few days to relax.We enjoyed a fascinating tour of the horse farm and falconry, with a passionate falconer who’s passion made the experience truly special. The visit to the olive oil factory was enlightening, along a great conversation with the knowledgeable hotel manager who further surprised us with a very warm attention and surprise cake for our son’s birthday, making us feel thoroughly cared for.We left Vila Galé Collection Alter Real delighted and look forward to returning. We highly recommend this hotel to anyone seeking a tranquil escape with a luxurious twist.
