    Family friendly Holiday

    rating23 May 2026

This hotel was family friendly, can also use the sister hotels across the road. So there’s 4/5 pools, indoor pool, water slides, Astro football pitches. There was plenty of activities put on by the hotel. The rooms, clean and cleaned every day.. Food in the hotel was nice. Rooms equipped well for self catering. We used Uber for transport, very cheap. We had an issue at the hotel, I have to say the manager (Pierre) was fantastic, acted very quickly and efficiently. He was very good and followed us up with a phone call. Very good management we thought. We will definitely come back again

Great location, clean and spacious apartment

    rating20 May 2026

We stayed at Alfagar Alto da Colina for my son’s birthday and really enjoyed our stay. We stayed in a superior room on the 4th floor with a partial sea view. The apartment was very spacious, clean and the kitchen was very well stocked. The breakfast buffet was good with plenty of choice, although tables were not always cleared quickly. One of the best things about the resort is that you can easily walk to the sister hotels and use their facilities too. We walked down to the beach one day which was lovely, although there is a bit of a climb back up.There is a Spar nearby when you turn left near the supermarket which is very well stocked and reasonably priced. There’s also a small café inside selling lovely cakes and coffee. If you walk right from the supermarket towards Santa Eulália, there are lots of restaurants and an Intermarché supermarket which is very reasonable too, although it is a bit of a walk so Uber can be easier. The hotel kindly gave my son a free drinks voucher for his birthday which he loved using for mocktails during our stay. The reception staff were very friendly and welcoming throughout. We really enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend this hotel for families. Patrícia Martins, Other at Alfagar Alto Da Colina, responded to this review Dear Sanmala,Thank you very much for your wonderful and detailed feedback. We’re delighted to hear that you had such an enjoyable stay at Alfagar Alto da Colina and that the spacious, clean apartment and well‑equipped kitchen met your expectations. Thank you for your kind recommendation, it means a lot to us.We hope to have the pleasure of welcoming you and your family back again in the future.Kind regards,Patrícia MartinsThe Team at Alfagar Hotels

First stay at Alfagar- nice break but improvements to be made

    rating01 May 2026

I booked Alfagar Alto da Colina as a package holiday with Jet2. The one bedroom apartment was big and had a well equipped kitchen. The cleaners came a few times on our 5 night break and did a great job.The pools were cold but we still went in them. The waterpark and splashpad area my daughter loved! The outdoor covered “heated” pool is not any warmer than the outdoor pools. It was just suffocating in there😅 We didn’t try any restaurants on site but I would recommend Portobello which is a few minutes walk away. The onsite shop is well stocked but it is expensive as expected. You can get a taxi to a local shop or use ubereats for a supermarket delivery. To get around we used Uber or Bolt- both great and arrived quickly. The tavern bar has a mini disco most nights and also does a quiz night- there isn’t really enough room for this and it’s difficult for children to dance around. The tavern was full on our holiday (end of April) so It must be awful in peak season. The quiz was chaotic with lots of technical issues. As mentioned in other reviews it can take a long time to order a drink in the tavern. *Around the pool areas there is a lot of uneven and moving patio slabs- be careful as it’s easy to trip! *Reception staff were friendly and helpful. I thought the check in process took longer than needed. We arrived after 4pm- After a day of travelling we just wanted to go to the room but while checking in we had to go through all these “offers” the hotel had for food and excursions with the receptionist. *I would rather look at the leaflets in my own time instead of at check in*On a few occasions we noticed children are not being supervised by their parents! (An unsupervised young child did a poo in the play park and just left it on the floor- reception dealt with this when made aware which was great but it should never have happened!)Overall it is a nice hotel and I cant complain for the price we paid! Patrícia Martins, Other at Alfagar Alto Da Colina, responded to this review Thank you very much for taking the time to share such detailed feedback. We’re pleased to hear that you found the apartment spacious and well equipped, and that our housekeeping team made a positive impression during your stay. It’s also great to know that your daughter enjoyed the waterpark and that our reception team was helpful. At the same time, we regret that certain aspects did not meet your expectations, including the pool temperatures, the organisation and space in the Tavern, delays at the bar, the check‑in experience and some maintenance concerns around the pool areas. We also appreciate your observations regarding supervision in shared spaces. These comments have been noted and shared internally, as they are important for us to continue improving the overall guest experience.Thank you once again for your honest review.Kind regards,Patrícia MartinsThe Team at Alfagar Hotels

    Can't wait to come back

    rating20 Apr 2026

My 2nd time at the Alfagar Da Colina hotel.. it is perfect.. im already looking to book again for October. We were in the 2nd building, above Giovanies restaurant.. it was so quite and we had the pool mainly to ourselves as all the family's were at the main pool with kids pool. Can't wait to go back. It's €5 in a uber to Old Town.. so we'll away from the noise. 5 🌟 holiday. Patrícia Martins, Other at Alfagar Alto Da Colina, responded to this review Dear Guest,Thank you very much for your wonderful review and for choosing Alfagar Da Colina for a second time. We’re delighted to hear that you had another perfect stay and are already planning to return in October. That’s the best compliment we could receive. It’s great to know that you enjoyed the quieter location near the pool and appreciated the peaceful atmosphere, while still being just a short Uber ride away from the Old Town.Thank you once again for your kind words and for rating your holiday 5 stars. We very much look forward to welcoming you back soon.Best regards,Patrícia MartinsThe Team at Alfagar Hotels

    Amazing! Highly recommend

    rating04 Apr 2026

Absolutely wonderful place! We arrived late afternoon on 29th March, the weather was beautiful. The room key is on your wristband which I loved as in forever looking for the key in my bag usually! We were greeted by the loveliest staff and directed to our room in block 2, a 1 bed apartment. The sofa bed was already set up for our 2 children which was nice. The room looked brand new, new kitchen and the oven looked brand new too. Everything you could need for a self catering stay, even washing up liquid etc. rooms were spacious and all rooms have a large double sized balcony and great air con. The Tv did have some English channels too. We had a side sea view and great views of the other 2 Alfagar hotels directly opposite. Block 2 was very quiet, downstairs in the block is a gym, outdoor pool and round the corner a mini market. Mini market is well stocked and even sells souvenirs and has a little cafe in it too. It is overpriced but you are paying for the convenience like you would in UK. There is also an Italian restaurant and takeaway in block 2 but it was closed for refurb, possibly will be open in summer season though. In the main hotel block is a restaurant for those that are half board or B&B so cannot comment on food here. There’s an indoor pool, library and the Tavern bar. The Tavern bar is great for food, drink and ice creams. You can take your food away to eat by the pool, the ham and cheese toasties were so good! We also ate there one night too and had a lovely meal sat on the terrace. Staff are so attentive. They have a kids disco and entertainment here every night too. They also have a parrot show and reptile show during the day on certain days, the parrot show was amazing! They have pool tables and some grabber machines here too. You then have the very large main pool with a small child’s pool next to it. The perfect spot to relax. Outdoor table tennis tables, football goals. Then walk a bit further round the side of the hotel and there is a large kids play frame, another swimming pool and a kids pool with slides. There’s also a splash pad. All were maintained to a very high standard and exceptionally clean. The kids pool with slides had a lifeguard. All pools have toilets nearby. At the kids pool with slides there is a snack bar with some great food choices and drinks. Reasonably priced too. We used Uber to get about during our stay and visited Albufeira old town €6.50 each way, olhos de ague €4.50 each way and Santa Eulália €4.20 each way, we also explored the Alfagar hotels over the road but in my opinion the Alto Da Colina layout was so much better! 35 minutes to and from the airport with our Jet2 transfers! On our last night we had a really early wake up call the next day and the kids were so tired so we had Burger King delivered via Uber eats, we met the driver outside block 2 but you can also meet them at main reception depending where your room is. I would happily come back here every year! Despite being self catering you could happily not leave the hotel, it has everything you could possibly need with the friendliest staff.
