    Dreadful!!!

    rating03 Apr 2026

In the sticks & away from everything.Unhelpful curly guy at reception.3rd day here and both our tvs never worked!!No water fountains to refill your water bottles.Air con working intermittently: curly reception guy condescendingly explaining that the balcony doors need to be shut for the a/c to work.A 5y.o. would know this!! Air con always shuts off at night and it has been 25/26 degrees in the past few days.. we are literally boiling here!!Ownership not taken, no one knows what is going on with maintenance issues.1 bus per hour to get into town.. this is turning out to be a nightmare.. luckily the hotel is dead, so there is no noise, apart from random kids at the pool. The gym receptionist did not acknowledge us, until we waived at her at the reception desk. Gym is shut most hours, and pointless to even go. Slthough she was just googling stuff, she could not show us the equipment and there was no one else to take us round. This place is unbelievable!!! Disappointed

    rating15 Oct 2025

Very disappointed. It’s four star hotel but defo not. Card would not work entering apartment, and when it did it wouldn’t turn on lights. Safety deposit box would work every now and again but then stopped. When we rang reception no answer on all occasions. Walked to reception but no one there but the receptionist. The receptionist got it sorted but it was a part of my holiday I didn’t want to wait in for maintenance. Every minute of my holiday is precious. Smell of dirty mop at the breakfast area bad 🙈 1 small bar of soap, very little toiletries. No coffee/ tea etc . On this occasion it was very disappointing 🙈. This is not a four star hotel Aqualuz Lagos by The Editory, Serviços ao cliente/atendimento at Aqualuz Lagos By The Editory, responded to this review Dear Guest,Thank you wholeheartedly for sharing your experience at Aqualuz Lagos by The Editory. More like a decent 3 star

    rating27 Sept 2025

First impressions are good, a smart reception and lounge area, helpful reception but rating this 4 star is too much.First the good points: great location, handy for the town , restaurants etc. plenty of sunbeds, pool kept clean ( but it’s not heated)decent breakfast and eating area is kept clean with friendly staff ( note that there is rarely any daily variety so it can feel limited after a time)Our bed was comfortable Negative points :No restaurant, just a soulless snack bar with a canteen feel furniture in apartments was badly chipped and carewornmaintenance is poor, our bath leaked, the front door wouldn’t close properly, no kitchen sink plug ( so not easy dishwashing)Fridge had shelf missingKitchen inventory was lacking - no teaspoons, corkscrew, wine glasses etc Outside light and corridor lights didn’t workAll of above were eventually rectified- except the lighting which was still off at the end of our 3 week holidayCleaning was superficial, towels & linen changed & rubbish bin emptied but only a swish of the mop as far as cleaning was concerned The endless jazz music played from 8am to about 22.30 ! Loud enough to permeate our apartment and veranda - no such thing as quiet timeWhen the upstairs apartment garden watering system came on , our veranda was flooded. We reported it 3 times and eventually we had to repack our belongings and were moved to another apartment ( which was disruptive … thought they would just fix the watering!) We wouldn’t return, it’s run in a reactive “ on a shoestring “ way. Great shame, it has huge potential and it’s in a great location Aqualuz Lagos by The Editory, Serviços ao cliente/atendimento at Aqualuz Lagos By The Editory, responded to this review Dear Guest,Thank you very much for taking the time to share such a detailed review. We are truly sorry that your stay did not entirely meet your expectations and that certain aspects of the apartment and service fell short of the standards we strive to uphold. We are, however, very grateful for your kind words about our excellent location, the comfort of the bed, the friendliness of our staff, and the cleanliness of both the pool area and the breakfast space.Regarding the restaurant, we are pleased to inform you that it has recently reopened also on the reception floor, now offering a much more inviting and welcoming atmosphere designed to provide a pleasant and relaxing dining experience.Your remarks concerning the furniture, maintenance, and cleaning have been carefully reviewed, and steps have already been taken to ensure greater consistency in quality and comfort. The issues mentioned regarding the watering system and lighting have also been addressed to prevent them from reoccurring. We genuinely appreciate your valuable feedback. We hope to have the pleasure of welcoming you again in the future, so you can enjoy a more comfortable and peaceful stay reflecting the improvements we have made.Kind regards,Aqualuz Lagos by The Editory

Excellent 10 night holiday in Lagos

    rating27 Sept 2025

My wife and I have just returned from 10 days break at the Aqualuz.Very nice hotel . We stayed in a 1 bedroom premium apartment overlooking the swimming pool on the 4th Floor.Around 15 mins walk into town, 20 mins to a beach, quite hard work in the heat .Staff very friendly and professional.Especially Carla at reception.Pool looks great but is actually very cold , probably because it is very deep in parts.Breakfast buffet was good with plenty of choice. Some people have commented it is very repetitive but what else could you add? Bacon, Eggs , Sausage, Fried vegetables, yogurts , fruit , Portuguese cakes etc, Breads , Jams etc.All in a nice atmosphere.Lagos is a lovely place to stay.Pleasure to walk into town at night , so many bars and restaurants to chose from.Very European clientele which suites us, if you want the Red Lion pub and more party areas etc go to Albuferia or similar.Would stay again. Aqualuz Lagos by The Editory, Serviços ao cliente/atendimento at Aqualuz Lagos By The Editory, responded to this review Dear Mr. Stuart,Thank you very much for sharing your experience and for your kind words about your stay at Aqualuz Lagos by The Editory. It is truly a pleasure to know that you and your wife enjoyed such a pleasant holiday with us.We are delighted to hear that you appreciated the comfort of your Premium Apartment with pool view, the breakfast atmosphere, and the friendliness of our staff — especially Carla at reception, who will be very happy with your mention. We understand your comment regarding the pool temperature; as it is quite large and deep, the water naturally tends to remain cooler, particularly during the hotter hours of the day.We also thank you for your thoughtful description of Lagos — a charming town full of life and authenticity, yet still offering the peacefulness that many of our guests seek.It would be a real pleasure to welcome you back for more days of rest and enjoyment at Aqualuz Lagos by The Editory.Kind regards,Aqualuz Lagos by The Editory

    Wonderful stay

    rating24 Sept 2025

Stayed in a one-bedroom apartment with a sofa bed in the lounge (room 114). A slightly dated apartment (although newer ones are available). Very clean and the beds are comfortable. Lovely pool views. Air conditioning is excellent, and blackout blinds. Lovely balcony overlooking the pool. The bathroom was large, with a bath featuring a shower hose attached to the wall. However, the base was fitted at an odd angle & the shower hose kept falling off and hitting you on the head. I have not seen this type of shower unit since the late eighties. But the bathroom and other areas of the apartment were clean, but be very careful when taking a shower as the bath is very slippery (nothing on the base of the bath), and there are no handles on the wall or bath to grip hold of; it is an accident waiting to happen. Tip: Use one of the small towels as a bathmat in the bath and stand on it when taking a shower. Just be careful when getting out.But it did answer our question, “Why is there an emergency cord hanging from the ceiling in the bath?”Maintenance appears to be the main issue. We reported that water was coming out of the base of the toilet. In the ten days we stayed, it was not checked or repaired and talking to the other guests who had issues, it was normal.kitchenette off the living room. The kitchen had everything you would need. Sink, fridge with freezer compartment, percolator, toaster, kettle, sufficient crockery, cutlery, etc, very handy for families & if you wanted a quick snack. The bedroom was a good size, but it could do with a proper set of drawers. Tip: We were in a twin room, but on the beds were double duvets folded over to make two layers, and the weather was very warm if you want to sleep, ask the cleaning staff for an extra sheet, or there is extra linen in the wardrobe (for the sofa bed), and use the sheet as a blanket. The hotel had a lovely restaurant area with outdoor seating; we sat outside every morning for breakfast. The breakfast buffet was good, and it had a good selection of hot and cold food.Every staff member we met was very helpful and pleasant.10-15 mins walk to the old town of Lagos, where there are plenty of excellent quality restaurants which are reasonably priced. 15 mins walk to the beaches, and there are quite a few good beaches within walking distance.I would recommend this hotel to family and friends.
