"Cheerfulway?" More like "Tearfulway" – A Masterclass in Misery

    rating20 May 2026

Let me start by saying the marketing team who named this establishment "Cheerfulway" deserves a Nobel Prize for Fiction. If your idea of a relaxing getaway involves testing the absolute limits of your immune system and human endurance, congratulations, you have found your paradise. For the rest of us, staying here is a psychological experiment I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy. The Room (or, The Damp Dungeon)Walking into our accommodation was like unearthing a time capsule from the 1970s that had been buried in a swamp. The air was so heavy with moisture I’m fairly certain I had to swim to the balcony. I didn't even bother unpacking; putting clean clothes in those cupboards felt like an insult to the fabric. Then there are the beds. Calling them "beds" is a stretch. I am convinced the mattresses were just burlap sacks filled with discarded paving stones and spite. I woke up every morning with my spine resembling a pretzel, exhausted from my nightly shifts listening to feral groups of teenagers testing the structural integrity of the slamming doors at 4:00 AM.The Bathroom ExperienceThe plumbing here operates strictly on vibes and luck. The shower produces a pathetic, lukewarm trickle that feels a bit like an asthmatic pigeon softly coughing on you. And a word of warning: if anyone in your apartment dares to flush the toilet, the entire water grid immediately goes on strike. You will be left standing there, covered in soap, waiting for the water to return while the resident bathroom cockroaches stare at you in silent judgement. The "Resort" AmenitiesVenturing down to the pool is like walking onto the set of a post-apocalyptic survival movie. Finding an intact sun lounger is essentially the Hunger Games—every single piece of plastic furniture seems to have suffered a catastrophic fracture. As for the pool itself, the water is a hyper-chlorinated mystery broth that I strongly suspect could dissolve a stainless steel spoon.Oh, and if you want to use the WiFi, prepare to stand on one leg, perfectly still, exactly three inches from the reception desk while holding your phone toward the heavens. It is the only place it works. The VerdictIf you enjoy sharing your shower with six-legged locals, sleeping on concrete, and paying a massive cash deposit for the privilege of existing in a biohazard, this is the spot for you. Otherwise, run. Run far, far away

I know it’s cheap but for your physical and mental health, DO NOT GO HERE!!

    rating17 May 2026

Please read all of it: Safety Hazards: There was exposed electrical wiring in the room from the ceiling light as shown, which poses an immediate fire and shock risk. The pool has toxic chlorine levels, my boyfriend contracted contact dermatitis from dipping his feet in part of the pool. This is hazardous to anyone using the facilities. Advertisement: None of the photos from the website represent the room we were given and after having switched rooms, it was still no better. It is false advertisement. To note: you will get a view from the balcony but sadly it will be of a derelict and deserted not so fun park Health Concerns: There is mould on the walls and the balcony. The room smells strongly of damp, the bed sheets felt damp, which is unacceptable for a paid holiday.Misrepresentation: This accommodation does not meet the "3-star" standard advertised at the time of booking.General uncleanliness and untidiness: as pictured - the toilet cistern is being held together with sellotape, the bath is discoloured and looks dirty/unsanitary, the bedsheets felt damp, there is mass amounts of limescale in the bathroom which for a standard home would be understandable however this is not a home and cleaning standards should paramount in a hotel. The cupboard doors are hanging off the hinges, there is an empty packet of cigarettes on the floor, the list truly goes on. The place needs shutting down. For your physical and mental health, do not go here. Even though it’s cheap, it’s still too expensive for what it is. I sent all of this to ASAE and received a response from the hotel basically calling me a liar despite the fact that I have evidence for all of this.

    AVOID. NEEDS CLOSING DOWN

    rating25 Sept 2025

The location of the hotel is in a really run down area. The hotel itself is the most dirty, disgusting place we have ever stayed. It's was filthy, extremely dated & it smells really bad. I did not unpack as there was nowhere clean to put your clothes. The shower was shared with cockroaches, so had to check before you got in.The staff were unfriendly & unhelpful. The young boy on reception had his young friends, hanging around in the foyer smoking & making weird noises as you tried to get past them. The pool area was absolutely disgusting, with broken tiles, it was dirty & there was rubbish strewn about. There was also a set of steps leading from the pool to waste land, that had at least a 15- 20 foot drop. No barriers or edge protection at all. The pictures on the website are inaccurate. No nice furniture or pool furniture. These are probably about 30+ years old, these pictures. I have upto date pictures as proof. Needs closing down. It would give the hotel in the inbetweeners movie a good run for it's money. AVOID

    Disgusting

    rating17 Jul 2025

Absolutely Disgusting – Avoid at All Costs!I’ve never stayed in such a disgraceful hotel in my life. Cheerful Way Minichoro in Albufeira is anything but “cheerful.” It was an absolute nightmare from start to finish. We specifically requested no room cleaning, and yet the cleaners repeatedly entered our room and went through our personal belongings. This is a serious invasion of privacy and completely unacceptable. The facilities were in a shocking state:Broken door handles that made us feel unsafe the entire timeA filthy pool that clearly hadn’t been cleaned in daysFurniture was broken, stained, and filthy – absolutely revoltingThe entire environment felt unhygienic, neglected, and unsafeTo top it off, the reception staff were incredibly rude and dismissive, with zero interest in helping or addressing any of our concerns. This place should not be allowed to operate. I would never recommend this hotel to anyone – in fact, I strongly urge you to stay far, far away. It completely ruined what should have been a relaxing trip. Avoid this dump at all costs!
