This pleasant apartment hotel lies 200 m from the nearest beach and within 10 minutes' walk of the resort centre. There are many shopping venues as well as countless restaurants and bars to be found in the surrounding area (within 250 m).

    My family have been staying at the Estrella for the past 14 years which says it all really. Can't speak highly enough of it. Bruno and his staff are always helpful and friendly. It is immaculately kept and we always feel safe and secure, particularly with the grandchildren. The resort itself may be too quiet for some but we find it the perfect place to relax, unwind and enjoy our holidays.

    Very poor maintenance - many things broken

    We have rented an apartment 4-6 months/year for 7 years. The first few years everything was perfect, everything was impeccably maintained and problems were fixed immediately. Just like it should be done at a top resort. Now the last few years the maintenance has been reduced. Things are not fixed. Right now the sauna is broken, the hot tub has been broken for 7 months, some machines in the gym have been broken for a year. Estrela is a closed area but now some of the entrance gates are open overnight because the closure does not work so anyone can go in. Now several elevators have been broken for 4 weeks and it is 4 floors from the pool area. Waiting for spare parts they say and blame some other company. Elevators usually have high priority and a spare part can be sent from anywhere in the world in a few days. So in 4 weeks they could have replaced the entire elevator. But not at Estrela, they just smile and blame another company. They have high rents and live on old merits. If you don't care that much about things not working, you can rent here, otherwise I advise against it.

    The Very Best Of Everything for Reasonable Price

    The facilities at the resort are top notch. We had a lot of rain so having an indoor pool, hot tub and sauna helped pass the rainy days. The grounds are beautiful and well manicured. We had maid service every week. The one bedroom unit we had was very spacious. Just a note that the two restaurants on site are not open until the first of March. The restaurant by one of the 5 pools did serve breakfast starting mid February. A 4 minute walk to the beach and bus stop. Many many restaurants in the area. We loved the village as it was quiet. Not a party town although, there is always action around the beach pubs and restaurants. The resort is beautifully lit up at night. So is the beach area.

    Our second visit to Estrela da Luz and it was just as good as the first. We had a one bed apartment, which was very large and clean - the kitchen had everything you could need if you wanted to self-cater. Decent coffee machine and they supplied washing machine pods, plus water and milk on arrival. The bathroom was great - bit bath and really powerful and refreshing shower. Beds comfortable. Cleaners visited three times over 10 days.Staff at the resort were generally very friendly and helpful, although our 5am check-out wasn't the best experience. The pools are brilliant - loads of sun beds available, and a relaxing and quiet area. The indoor pool is nice and warm, lovely sauna. The jacuzzi was freezing though!! Basically unusable, so they need to fix that. Pool bar hours a bit unpredictable. Breakfast was great - there is loads of choice from traditional continental and cooked breakfast, to a selection of meats and cheeses, homemade cakes and crepes, fresh fruit, roast veg, loads of pastries and fresh bread. The freshly squeezed orange juice is a lovely touch. The second restaurant on site, Chicca's, is well worth a visit (although the owner is a bit... eccentric).The resort is quiet and secure with nice gardens. Location is fine, but it is an uphill walk to get back, so if you have mobility issues it isn't the best, especially on a very hot day.We had a brilliant stay and will be back.
