A truly relaxing adults only gem in the Algarve

    rating26 May 2026

I’m writing this on the last day of an amazing and truly relaxing break at the Falésia Hotel. My partner and I stayed on a half-board basis, and after reading a few mixed reviews online beforehand, we arrived feeling slightly unsure about what to expect. Honestly, please ignore the negative reviews. From the moment we arrived, we were impressed. The hotel is absolutely spotless throughout, with beautifully maintained gardens and lots of thoughtfully designed areas to relax — whether that’s sunbathing during the day or enjoying an evening drink. The sunken fire pit area in particular is a lovely touch. The outdoor pool was a little chilly, but that certainly didn’t stop us swimming two or three times every day! There’s also an indoor pool which looked very stylish, although we didn’t get around to using it. We did use the gym, which is equipped with brand-new treadmills and excellent facilities.I also treated myself to a massage in the spa, and it was sublime — carried out with complete professionalism and care. What really makes this hotel special, though, is the staff. Every single member of staff genuinely wants guests to have a wonderful stay, and it’s obvious how hard they all work. Everyone was warm, courteous, and incredibly professional throughout our visit. We really enjoyed the evening entertainment too. It was low-key and relaxing — the perfect way to end each day.Our room was kept immaculate every day, with fresh linen, fluffy towels, and a wonderfully powerful shower. We also used the shuttle bus to the stunning sandy beach nearby (a quick tip: take cash if you want to hire sunbeds). Even the shuttle driver was exceptionally polite and professional. Now for the food — and this deserves special mention. My partner and I have travelled a lot, and I can honestly say the breakfast here is one of the best we’ve had. The cooked options were excellent, but there was also an incredible selection of yoghurts, chia puddings, homemade granola, and beautifully fresh fruit.Dinner was equally as good, with different options each evening including Portuguese dishes, fish, pork, beef, and vegetarian choices, alongside rice, potatoes, pasta, and delicious desserts. Best of all, the hot food was actually hot — no microwave needed! The dining area itself is elegant and relaxed, overlooking the pools and gardens, with soft lighting and different seating areas that create a lovely atmosphere. It certainly does not resemble a “transport café,” as one reviewer described.I know this is a long review, but I genuinely wanted to express how special this hotel is. If you don’t leave feeling relaxed, well looked after, and a few pounds heavier, then you’re definitely doing something wrong!

    Soulless

    rating25 May 2026

This hotel is classed as “Platinum” with Tui so was expecting the usual high platinum standards and decor. We stayed for bank holiday weekend and I’m so glad it was only a weekend I wouldn’t have stayed any longer. The hotel is like somewhere I would stay on a business trip for work, it’s soulless, I certainly wouldn’t want to think that was my main holiday. The room was spotlessly clean and the bed comfy however the room was small and again the furnishings were very old fashioned corporate style nothing stylish at all. They do provide toiletries by Rituals which is a nice touch however there is no hair conditioner and the hairdryer is a waste of time. They only provide 1 bottle of water for your stay so you may want to stock up at the supermarket as after breakfast you will not be able to get a drink until the pool bar opens at 11am.There was always plenty of sun-beds available and nice gardens however the pool was dirty and freezing cold.We only stayed B&B and there was plenty of choice but no ala carte options only buffet. The best part of the stay was the spa which was newly renovated. The team there were super friendly and myself and my husband had the best massages we have ever had.We did walk to the nearby beach which was a trek through the hotel next door and down steps and a long wooden walkway. The scenery on the way was lovely but once we got there the beach wasn’t the nicest to relax on.

    Tragic

    rating24 May 2026

Have just returned from a week at this hotel, the 4th and last time we've been. As others have said, the main disappointment was the evening meal. The choices were mismatched, often dry as they sat in trays largely untouched for a while. The quality and toughness of the majority of meat dishes is not what is expected, the pork cheeks may be the only exception during our stay, most nights, we along with many others ate a salad , certainly not value for money when paying half board. The other main area of concern is the once popular and thriving bar is now soulless due to the time taken for drinks to be served and the explanations of the automatically added 10% service charge especially when the service is so poor. The entertainment wouldn't get 4 yesses between them on Britain's got talent (which should say it all), overall it's a sinking ship...tragic!

    Unrecognisable

    rating24 May 2026

Just returned from a stay at the Falesia . The decline in the hotel from last year to this year is staggering and as a returning customer(s) extremely sad and disappointing. If you have stayed here previously think long and hard about returning as the things that made it special and so enjoyable have gone. I take no satisfaction in writing this review only sadness. The evening meal has gone from a superb feast of food beautifully presented and served in a dining room with white linen dressed tables to low cost basic bland food on undressed tables that only have one fork knife and spoon and glass beaker. The food is just terrible. Some staff are pleasant with others tetchy and stressed. The rooms remain cleaned to a good standard daily but I never saw the pool cleaned once and the surrounding areas are in need of attention with some weeds starting to appear. Drinks are reasonably priced but low staffing levels make it a timely activity. During our stay the pool side bar only had one member of staff working it.. Unfortunately we won’t be returning unless the hotel can be returned to his former superb high standards but I fear the decline is too rapid and big to reverse. What was once a superb half board immaculate 4 star hotel is at best a quiet bed and breakfast stay as the evening meal isn’t worth going down for!!

New policy as from 2026 : 4 star level ruined

    rating24 May 2026

After spring 2025 this may it was our second two-week-stay on half-board regime. Like many others this year we heavily need to complain about the changes the new management of this hotel has implemented:Many members of the staff were substituted by unexperienced, which was most inconvenient especially in the restaurant during breakfast and dinner. In the morning the tables were mostly not cleaned and rearranged for the next guests to come. This was due to heavy reduction of number of waiters. Quality of food provided was mean. Bakery bad, sometimes smoked salmon availabe (lowest quality). Orange juice low quality. Coffee bitter like hell, so better mix it with lot of milk. This was about breakfast.Coming to dinner: Lately you need to book a time-slot each eventing. Each morning you need to annouce what time you would like to have dinner that day from 6:30 (may be 6) to 8:30.Arriving guest will first day automatically booked for 8:30 !It possible to try an book in advance at the moment of your first breakfast, but could be at least the first day the time-slot of your choice is already fully booked.Quality has reduced heavily compared to last year. Every week the dished are repeated. Consequently on each day you receive exactly the same as exactly a week ago. It was even confirmed they would not change this in the near future so you do not want to stay for three weeks ...The dishes where low quality of pork, beef, chicken, fish because only cheapes parts were available, parts of chicken legs with bones of cause, no breast. All the warm dishes were only warm, not hot. Plain rice was not ufficiently boiled. Every dish of every course was provided twice on the buffet. This looks good but in the end the choice is only small.Deserts are, if completely purchased, ok. Any cream or cake produced by themselvesare ... sweet ... two weeks of mostly fruit for us.Regarding the service: see breakfast. No tableclothes anymore,We STRONGLY RECOMMEND to only book bed and breakfast.Regarding the room ( we had junior suite, balcony directed to the waste-area ) : basically postive, room-service doing a good job, only few complaints: TV is permanently interrupting the broadcast, only few hangers in the wardrobe (definitely not sufficient for 2 weeks). Beds are good, restroom with shower is good.Regarding pool, garden area: This is clearly the big plus of this hotel (had to damage in a few months ...). Overall: you will be charged preliminarily by 50 € on your credit cards as a deposit for leaving without paying your invoice for drinks and extra services. Our summary:We will not return to this hotel because the management has definitely chosen to follow a new policy regardig staffing and food and beaverage.
