    rating09 May 2026

ProsLovely interiors decor Attractive reception areaNice dining roomLots of outdoor chill out areas and balconies Board games, boules/petanque, English newspapers Book swapFree earplugs Free coffee 6-10amFree black tea, herbal teas all dayLaundry rails in bathroom Washing line on balconyGreat location - 5 mins walk from bus/trainSt Pedro's Church is beautiful, open all day, beautiful masses with choir, and ladies selling delicious cakes for €1 afterwardsConsThere's an evening dinner at €15 - too expensive for a hostel - restaurant prices - and many hostels do for freeNot for me, but €10 pub crawl where you get three shots and entry to nightclub, when I saw a bar doing three pints and three shots for €10.Note to mgtNo mgt on at weekends so you have to wait until Monday re any issues, you're probably already departed The Brazilian cleaners work hard, but they make such a racket chattering together on their breaks. Unisex bathroom & showers - no thanks!!!Thanks to all

    Don’t Recommend Avoid

    rating30 Apr 2026

I had a very poor experience at Hostellicious It took over an hour to check in after I arrived and the staff were rude and disrespectful throughout I was made to feel unwelcome including inappropriate comments about my skin colour. The bed also appeared to have bugs, which made the stay even more uncomfortable I ended up shortening my stay and leaving early I would not recommend this place.

HEALTH HAZARD: Bed Bugs, Eggs, and Hostile Management

    rating05 Feb 2026

I am writing this to strictly warn future guests. My experience here was a nightmare.1. The Infestation: Upon check-in (Feb 3, 2026), I inspected my bed. Within 10 minutes, I found a severe infestation of live bed bugs and eggs. The presence of eggs proves this was a long-standing infestation that cleaning staff ignored.2. The Gaslighting: Instead of apologizing, the staff attempted to discredit me, insinuating I brought the insects myself. This is physically impossible given the timeline (10 minutes after entry) and the presence of eggs. It was a shameful attempt to avoid responsibility.3. The Refusal: Despite the health risk and their own admission that the room needed disinfection, management refused to refund my money. They knowingly kept payment for a room that was legally uninhabitable.4. The Consequence: I was forced to file formal complaints with the Portuguese Economic Safety Authority (ASAE) against their parent company (Descontrair & Descansar Lda) just to be heard.VERDICT: Do not stay here. You risk bringing parasites home. If you complain, management will attack your integrity rather than help you. Note: I eventually secured a refund through my booking agency solely because I provided overwhelming photographic evidence, but the hotel itself refused to return a single cent.ADVICE: Take pictures and demand the "Livro de Reclamações" (official Red Book). It is your legal right.
