Location

This is a mountain and nature retreat located near the thermal village of Caldas de Monchique (around 5 km away). The area features exotic vegetation with more than 1,000 species of plants. A large part of the land is a protected nature reserve. The complex is 20 minutes' drive from Rocha (Portimão) and Alvor beaches and 15 minutes' drive from several golf courses. Faro Airport is some 40 minutes' drive from the property.

Facility

195 suites are located on 7 storeys and can be reached by 10 lifts. The friendly staff at the reception desk are happy to answer any questions. Amenities include a baggage storage service, a safe and a cash machine. Wireless internet access in public areas allows guests to stay connected. The apartment hotel has a range of facilities for guests with disabilities. The hotel has wheelchair-accessible facilities. There are a number of shops, including a supermarket and souvenir shop. The grounds of the hotel feature a playground and a lovely garden. Additional amenities include a TV room, a playroom and a library. Guests arriving by car can park their vehicles in the garage or in the car park. Further services and facilities include a 24-hour security service, a babysitting service, a childcare service, a car hire service, medical assistance, a transfer service, room service, a laundry service, a coin-operated laundry, a page service and a hotel shuttle bus. Active guests who wish to explore the surrounding area by bike will appreciate the bicycle hire service. Bicycle storage is also available. A projector is available for guests' business needs.

Rooms

Rooms are equipped with air conditioning and individually adjustable heating. Guests can relax on the balcony or terrace. All rooms are carpeted and include a queen-sized bed and a sofa bed. Extra beds can be requested. A safe and a desk are also available. There is a fully-equipped kitchenette with a refrigerator, stovetop, microwave, tea/coffee station and oven. There is also a washing machine and an ironing set. A direct dial telephone, a television with satellite/cable channels and WiFi (no extra charge) ensure optimal comfort. Guests can take advantage of the nightly turndown service. The bathrooms have a shower and a bathtub. A hairdryer, bathrobes and a telephone are provided. For extra comfort in the bathrooms, guests are offered cosmetic products. Guests can also book wheelchair-friendly rooms with wheelchair-accessible bathrooms. The apartment hotel has family rooms, 135 non-smoking rooms and smoking rooms.

Sport

Guests can work out or just relax in the outdoor and indoor pools. Kids can splash about in a special swimming area just for them. Guests can treat themselves to refreshing drinks at the poolside snack bar and a relaxing soak in the hot tub. A terrace with sun loungers and parasols is available. For guests who wish to keep active, cycling/mountain biking, archery and horse riding are available. Water sports enthusiasts can enjoy water aerobics and aquafit. Guests can enjoy a wide range of indoor sports, including a gym, billiards, yoga, callisthenics and aerobics. Various wellness options are available at the hotel, including a spa, a sauna, a steam bath, a hammam, massage treatments and hydrotherapy treatments. Guests of all ages have the opportunity to enjoy an entertainment programme.

Meals

Dining facilities include a dining room, a café and a bar. Guests can enjoy the culinary delights of the non-smoking, air-conditioned restaurant, which provides high chairs for children. Catering options include half board and full board. A continental breakfast buffet guarantees a great start to the day. For lunch and dinner, guests can order à la carte. Diet meals, gluten-free meals, vegetarian dishes and children's meals can be prepared on request. In addition, special catering options and snacks are available. The show cooking is a particularly special attraction.

    Another pleasant stay

    Our 4th visit to this amazing resort. Located in the hills the scenery is amazing with access to nature all around. A quiet atmosphere suitable for families and couples. The rooms include a functional kitchen with plenty of space. Al a carte menue for the first couple of days and buffet for the remainder. Food is a good quality with lots of variety. We stopped in B717 this time which is next to the entry road, but isn't noisy. Windows particularly on the road side need a good clean! But we spent very little time in the room during the day so just an observation.Other rooms on the other side of the resort have a better view based on our previous experience. Overall, as always we really enjoyed our stay and will be back very soon.

    Room next to kitchen service area... bad experience!

    Unfortunately there are some rooms next to the service areas in the hotel which are constantly noisy throughout the evening and night. Not ideal when my kids cant goto sleep because its too loud. Even when reporting this issue nothing was done and even when talking to reception no offer to move room was made. This happened for the two nights we stayed there. So avoid this place if you have kids, if you get a bad room your night will be very loud and you wont sleep. A shame.     Great hotel. The staff is always helpful and makes you feel special. Mr Ricardo, in the reception is very helpful and attentive!The amenities in the hotel are all great.Good breakfast options, the thing I disliked was the bacon... But there's lots of other options to choose from.The room is big and clean, but unfortunately there are things that need attention: such as walls dirty, scratched and needing painting or fixing.Or skirting boards needing replacement, even the door of the bathroom it's damaged on the bottom due to water.For me it's little things, so don't affect my overall experience, but it's sad to see such a great hotel getting in disrepair.     Highly recommended. Facilities and comfort are excellent. Wonderful, friendly and helpful staff. Location may not suit everyone even so there are local restaurants a short walk away and with great weather it is very difficult to be disappointed here. I've been four times and every time is great.     Very nice, quiet relaxing hotel

    The hotel is set on a curving mountain Road about 3 miles in land from the A22 Highway. We were about an hour and a half late arriving in the evening due to the new entry/exit system at the airport ! we didn’t expect to be able to eat anything! however, the hotel had arranged for us to have dinner in the upper bar area as the restaurant was closed by the time we got there, which was a nice start to the break. The staff are very friendly. The hotel is clean and well maintained the room we had was massive! dining areas and swimming pool all very nice the whole place is very relaxing.We booked this up through Secret Escapes , a Travel firm we’ve used several times before who I will not hesitate to recommend, as with the hotel I would go-there again, but there are many other places to visit in the world Guest Relations, Owner at Monchique Resort Spa, responded to this review Dear Guest,Thank you very much for sharing your experience with us.
