Location

This hotel is located on a hill directly beside the sea. It is 200 m to the nearest inviting beach. Scores of shops and other entertainment venues are located in the centre of Alvor, just 1 km away. The hotel operates its own shuttle bus, which runs twice a day to Portimão, which is 6 km away. The airport is 70 km away.

Facility

This beach hotel was renovated in 2023. 13 suites, 5 single rooms and 299 double rooms are located on 15 storeys and can be reached by lift. English-speaking staff at the reception are happy to assist guests at the reception desk round the clock. Check-in and check-out are available 24 hours a day. Amenities available at the hotel include a baggage storage service, a safe and a currency exchange service. Wireless internet access is provided in public areas. The hotel offers a number of facilities for guests with disabilities. The hotel has wheelchair-accessible facilities. A number of shops, including a souvenir shop, are great for shopping or just browsing. The grounds of the hotel feature a playground and a lovely garden. Additional amenities include a TV room and a playroom. Guests arriving by car can park their vehicles in the car park. Further services and facilities include a babysitting service, a childcare service, a car hire service, a transfer service, room service (for a fee), a laundry service, a hairdresser and a coin-operated laundry. Rooms

Air conditioning and central heating ensure that rooms maintain comfortable temperatures. In most units, guests can enjoy a view of the sea from a balcony or terrace. All rooms are carpeted and include a double bed and a sofa bed. Extra beds can be requested. A safe and a minibar are also available. The kitchenette comes with a refrigerator and a microwave. A direct dial telephone, a television with satellite/cable channels, a radio and WiFi (no extra charge) provide all the essentials for a comfortable holiday. A hairdryer and a telephone are available in the bathrooms, which are equipped with a shower and a bathtub. As an extra convenience, bathrooms provide cosmetic products. Wheelchair-friendly rooms with wheelchair-accessible bathrooms are also available. The hotel has family rooms, non-smoking rooms and smoking rooms.

Sport

The pool complex guarantees comfortable swimming with its 4 outdoor pools, indoor pool and soothing salt water. There is a children's swimming area as well. Guests can treat themselves to refreshing drinks at the poolside snack bar and a relaxing soak in the hot tub. Sun loungers and parasols on the sun terrace create a perfect space for guests to relax and unwind. A variety of activities are available at the hotel, for example crazy golf, paddle tennis and fishing or, for a fee, cycling/mountain biking, tennis, golf and horse riding. A wide range of indoor sporting activities are also offered, for example a gym and table tennis or, for a fee, billiards and darts. There is a wellness area with a spa, a sauna, a steam bath and hydrotherapy treatments. Subject to charge: massage treatments. Guests of all ages have the opportunity to enjoy a fun entertainment programme.

Meals

The dining area includes a bar. Guests can dine in one of the 3 buffet restaurants. All-inclusive is offered as a catering option. Breakfast, brunch, lunch and dinner offer many delicious options.

    We’ve had a fantastic stay at Pestana Blue Alvor! One of the highlights of our holiday has been the entertainment team. Every evening there has been something different to enjoy, which has kept both adults and children entertained throughout our stay.The whole team work incredibly hard and are always full of energy, enthusiasm and smiles. All inclusive sounds wonderful until you realise “all inclusive” means the exact same buffet, repeated identically, for five consecutive days. By day three we were playing “spot the difference” with our plates. There was none. Zero creativity, zero variety, zero effort. Even our two and a half year old got bored of the food — and toddlers eat the same thing every day by choice.Our little one fell ill during the stay. High fever, cough, the works. We approached reception asking for something as basic as a first aid kit. The response was a blank stare followed by a shrug. A five star hotel with a sick child on the premises and not a single plaster, thermometer or basic medical provision available. Absolutely unacceptable.Speaking of reception — rude doesn’t quite cover it. Cold, dismissive, and about as welcoming as a passport control queue. Every interaction felt transactional at best and hostile at worst. There was no warmth, no initiative, no basic human hospitality. It genuinely felt like the entire hotel was being run by robots who had been briefly shown what a smile looks like but never quite mastered the execution.The language barrier was a serious issue throughout. We understand we are in Portugal — we respect that entirely. But a five star international hotel charging five star prices must have staff capable of basic English communication. On multiple occasions we were met with blank looks, wrong orders, and complete miscommunication that left us feeling invisible.Our toilet leaked for the duration of our stay. We reported it. Nothing happened. We reported it again. Still nothing. By day four we had simply accepted the slow drip as background ambience.The all inclusive restaurants — Luigi and Fuego — sound wonderful on paper. Getting a table is another matter entirely. We were told to book immediately on check in or forget it. Fine. But when one restaurant is closed on certain days with zero communication it renders the promise of dining variety completely hollow.We paid for a Classic Sea View room — the only thing that lived up to its description was the sea view. Everything else was anything but classic.This is not five stars. This is not even close. This is a property coasting on its location and its rating whilst delivering an experience that belongs firmly in the two star category.Save your money. Save your holiday. Go elsewhere.The Algarve is beautiful.     12 of us have just returned from a weeks stay at the Pestana Blue Alvor BeachWe didn't expect fine dining at an all-inclusive hotel, but this was the poorest I've experienced 2/5 at best, barely warm with little or no variation.Hotel was disorganised, tried to book a meal at one of the 2 speciality restaurants on site, took nearly 6 days to finally get a table confirmed, we wish we hadn't bothered, nearly half the menu was being brought up from the all-inclusive buffet downstairs!!!The staff tried to blame us for the confusion booking the table, giving various excuses depending on which member of staff you spoke to.
