Location

This elegant beach hotel is located at the heart of the Algarve, on a cliff overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. From the hotel, guests are offered direct access to a sheltered beach. There are plenty of shopping venues, restaurants, bars and nightclubs 1 km from the hotel. Convenient public transport links may be found within 100 metres of the hotel, which is approximately 25 minutes from Faro International Airport.

Facility

The resort has a lift and features 182 rooms. Multilingual staff (English, German, French) at the reception desk in the lobby are happy to answer any questions. Amenities include a baggage storage service, safe, currency exchange service and cash machine. Wireless internet access allows guests to stay connected while on holiday. The resort has a range of facilities for guests with disabilities. The resort has wheelchair-accessible facilities. A variety of shops are available, including a souvenir shop. The grounds of the resort feature a playground and a lovely garden. Guests arriving by car can park their vehicles in the car park. Further services include a 24-hour security service, a babysitting service, a childcare service, a car hire service, room service, an alarm call service, a laundry service, a coin-operated laundry and a hotel shuttle bus. Active guests can make use of the bicycle hire service to explore the surrounding area. A fax machine is available for guests' business needs.

Rooms

Air conditioning and central heating ensure that rooms maintain comfortable temperatures. In most units, guests can enjoy a view of the sea from a balcony or terrace. Rooms have a double bed, a queen-size bed or a sofa bed. Extra beds can be requested. A safe and a minibar are also available. The kitchenette comes with a refrigerator, a microwave and a tea/coffee station. A telephone, satellite television, a radio and WiFi (no extra charge) provide all the essentials for a comfortable holiday. Bathrooms are equipped with a shower and a bathtub, as well as a hairdryer. As a special feature, bathrooms are also stocked with cosmetic products and a selection of towels. Wheelchair-friendly rooms with wheelchair-accessible bathrooms are also available. The resort has family rooms, non-smoking rooms and smoking rooms.

Sport

Heated saltwater pools make for a soothing swim. In addition to an indoor pool, there are 2 outdoor pools and a swimming area for children. A terrace with sun loungers and parasols is available. Refreshing drinks are served at the poolside snack bar. The resort offers an extensive outdoor sports programme, including cycling/mountain biking, tennis, bocce, basketball and golf. With windsurfing, snorkelling, diving and water aerobics available, fans of water sports will have plenty to choose from. Guests can enjoy a wide range of indoor sports, including a gym, table tennis, billiards, squash, callisthenics and aerobics. Parents can unwind while the kids can participate in an entertainment programme full of fun activities.

Meals

The dining area includes a restaurant and a bar. Half board is offered as a catering option. For breakfast (continental), lunch, and dinner, guests serve themselves at the buffet or choose their favourite dishes from the à la carte options (for dinner).

    On top of the cliff overlooking the sea which made sitting on the balcony very pleasant. Room was very clean with a microwave, fridge, kettle and some some dishes and cutlery which was a nice touch. Staff at the front desk - Alfonso, Stephanie, Ruben and others who I didn't get the names of very helpful and always ready with a smile.Lovely beach below with a restaurant overlooking the sea.     Stayed at the Pestana Viking quite a few times. Always get a warm and efficient welcome, the rooms are spacious and the gardens/pool area are spotless with hotel staff always around to collect empty glasses etc. All ages are catered for with indoor and outdoor pools, a gym, sauna, hot tub, etc. Outside cafe and breakfast are very good with lots of choice. Didn’t try restaurant because there are 4 or 5 good restaurants within 10 minute walk and loads in Armacao, a 30 minute walk away. Lovely secluded beaches and coves nearby.

    Lovely hotel in a perfect location! Spotless clean rooms with an unbelievable view. Big pool with plenty of sunbeds and never felt busy or crowded. Altogether a wonderful stay.

    Great hotel but beds need to be changed more

    We had a 10 day stay at the Pestana Viking. We found the location perfect and the staff very friendly. The food was of a very high standard. The rooms were cleaned every day and towels exchanged regularly. However the bed linen was only changed on the 8th day of our stay. We found this unacceptable.

    3rd year in a row at this wonderful hotel. Located near a cliff edge, with amazing scenery overlooking the ocean. Very relaxing atmosphere, great staff and loads of sun loungers in the scenic gardens surrounding the pool. Outdoor (sea water) and indoor (fresh water) pools. We stay in a suite with sea view and it is very comfortable and spacious. The breakfast buffet is great, with lots of different opinions to suit all tastes.
