Best thing about this hotel were the super friendly and welcoming staff

    rating07 Apr 2026

A typical Ibis Budget Hotel - best described as minimalist. That said there was tea and coffee, plus reception staff were very generous when I asked for more tea bags and milk. We stayed in Room 539 which is very small and overlooks the NSW Ambulance airbase and Sydney Airport. The room walls could do with a lick of paint and a couple of Target pictures which would soften the austre feeling. Good wifi, solid shower and pressure, comfortable bed and a soundproof room.An easy 10 - 15 minutes walk from Terminal 2 just follow the signs or just head for the DHL Depot or ask any friendly pedestrian how to get there. We were told there's a shuttle costing AUD 12 per passenger - we decided it was quicker to walk!If you need a cheap meal there's a Macdonalds within spitting distance of the hote.Best thing about this hotel were the super friendly and welcoming staff which is what you need after traveling for 10 or so hours.

    Lack of Care

    rating02 Mar 2026

Terrible service with nothing but confusion. It took so long to process the booking. They had the wrong day booked, but my email showed the correct date I requested. They made it out to be my fault even when I showed them the proof.

DO NOT RECOMMEND - SERVICE NOT PROVIDED. EXTREMELY POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE.

I booked this online for the same night as my flight had been cancelled. I walked 15 minutes in the rain to discover that the booking platform had malfunctioned and had somehow made the booking for a random date in March. I definitely selected the correct dates, as I was picking the date for the current night whilst conducting my search. Additionally, the booking platform was in Euro not AUD. The hotel also had no accommodation available that night, so I got charged for a service that I never used. I cancelled the booking within 30 minutes of making it due to the above system error. When I contacted the booking platform they said they could not refund me as I had to speak directly to the motel. I have now emailed, and tried calling 8 times without any response, answer of phonecalls or ability to leave a phone message.

Ripped off. Be careful with the pricing.

    rating24 Feb 2026

Ripped off. I flew into Sydney late on the evening of 25/02/26 having booked a hotel near the airport, however I had the wrong date and there were no vacancies. I tried the Ibis hotel who also had no vacancies but suggested Ibis budget had rooms. I arrived around 10.45 and the young woman said they had a room. I was exhausted and tired but thankful, payed and slept. The next morning I checked my bank and had been charged $404 for a tiny basic room. I went to reception to ask why and was told that was the rate last night. I checked this morning and it's $170.The room at the other hotel I wrongly dated was $181 for a far superior accommodation. Totally unacceptable. I will try and negotiate with management for a refund of the difference between the standard rate and the exorbitant price i was charged. I gave them 1 because the room was clean and functional.

Don't Do It, Waste of Money

    rating19 Jan 2026

If I could have given them a zero I would have. If you are flying out of Sydney Airport and choose to stay at a hotel the night before, do not stay at the Ibis Budget Hotel in Ross Smith Avenue Mascot. I couldn't wait to get out of there (I cancelled my remaining reservations and went to the Travelodge). It's definitely "you get what you pay for". Cheap, nasty and with constant noise all night from the main road below my closed window. The guy at reception obviously didn’t want to be there and it showed. I can whole heartedly recommend the Travelodge Hotel Sydney Airport in King Street Mascot. It is extremely quiet (road traffic wise and neighbours). I booked 5 rooms and wanted them all together on the same floor (7 family members) when we flew out and also when we returned and the hotel staff were very accommodating. The Travelodge rooms are comfortable and clean and the staff are lovely. It also has a nice little restaurant on the ground floor. It is definitely worth paying a little extra at the Travelodge for the rooms than the cheaper Ibis Budget Hotel.
