Booked a 10 day tour visiting 4 different Azore islands with a tour company. The tour company must have received a very cheap rate from the owner of 35th Atlantic Ave because this place is awful. We had room # 8 and our friends had room # 9. The mattresses in both rooms were hard as cement. The sliding glass door in room # 8 would not lock/secure. The included breakfast consisted of bread, cold cut ham and cheese, apple, orange, yogurt, two cereals and warm milk. Nothing hot like Eggs or Bacon or oatmeal. We decided to check out two days early and move to a location that had better reviews on TripAdvisor. Naturally after contacting our tour company we were informed the owners of 35th Atlantic Avenue refused to refund the 2 unused nights. The owners don’t care about the customer as they haven’t responded to any reviews that have been previously submitted. Buyer beware.

    Clean functional apartment

    rating31 May 2025

When staying a few days on Pico this small apartment complex was chosen. The biggest plus is that it was absolutely clean, breakfast rather basic but adequate, the breakfast room is also.rather basic and feels rather unsociable.Too bad that during the stay the owner / manager remains invisible. You check in automatically and pull the door behind you on departure - efficiently but rather impersonally. You see during the week a dame. set breakfast and clean the general areas but that's it.All in all satisfied but could be just a bit better. Good, but could use some tweaks

Really this is a 3.5* review. This is a good choice that has the potential to be great. The owners need to figure out what they want this place to be and plan accordingly. The area is really nice. It's out of the way without being too remote. There is an easy to use parking area just off the road. We had a second floor sea view room. The room itself was nice. There were however some flaws. There was little ventilation with the doors closed. Also, when it rained, water seemed to leak in through every door and window, making it impossible to feel dry. My number one complaint is that there was no fridge in the room. Pico makes some of the best white wines in the world, and to have a balcony with an ocean view makes sipping wine the most natural pastime. The fact that there's nowhere to chill wine is inexplicable. I can understand not wanting to promote a party atmosphere, but I consider access to a fridge to be a basic requirement. The breakfast was fine, but bordered on basic. Perhaps another fresh element would elevate it. There are some fine restaurants nearby and a good grocery store only five minutes drive away. Truthfully, I would stay here again, but I think the owners are missing a golden opportunity to create something sensational.

    Just say NO

    rating09 Jun 2023

No A/C and only way to get air is by opening windows and doors, none of which are screened allowing in mosquitoes and flies….2 windows in the bathroom, one opening into the shower stall, the other offering perfect view of toilet, no screens and no privacy and total access for flies and mosquitos. In the main area of the “suite” there were sliding glass doors onto a terrace (no furniture there and no screens. This was the only way to get ventilation in the stuffy living space and also not really offering ventilation as in order to get privacy from passersby, the heavy curtains must be used. The long and short was no air when doors were open and access for flies and mosquitos. I immediately requested a different room, any room, not this one. Staff would not accommodate, speaking of which…. We had to make an international call upon arrival to get someone to check us in! My second attempt to change rooms I offered to take a lesser room and give our room to an incoming guest. Staff would not help. The television did not work (why call for assistance? There is no one one the property to help and would require a 3rd international call), the breakfast offering was subpar, and after 3 days at this place I can report that we were too warm (despite a small fan brought to us), had 3 poor nights of sleep, and I have more than 20 mosquito bites. If we had not prepaid for these accommodations, I would never have stayed here. This property had so many signs of wear and tear… more than disappointing.

    Wonderful room and hospitality!

We stayed in the spa suite, and it was absolutely amazing to be able to open the full wall patio doors to sit in the sunshine with views of the sea. The team at 35th Atlantic View provided the best hospitality and were very accommodating to our needs.
