Location

Located in the area of Lagoa with the best microclimate on the island, perched on the cliffs facing Baixa da Areia bay, this beach hotel blends in beautifully with the magnificent natural surroundings of trees, vineyards, flowers and black volcanic stone walls. Guests will find shops, restaurants and links to the public transport network in the centre of Agua de Pau, around 1 km from the resort. It is conveniently situated near the main points of interest - the city of Ponta Delgada is approximately 17 km away, and Nordela (São Miguel Island) airport is just 20 km away.

Facility

80 non-smoking rooms are located on 3 storeys and can be reached by 2 lifts. The reception desk is open round the clock. Amenities available at the resort include a baggage storage service and a safe. Wireless internet access (for a fee) is provided in public areas. The tour desk offers assistance with booking excursions. The complex has a range of facilities for guests with disabilities. The resort has wheelchair-accessible facilities.     Great Hotel, Culinary Letdown

    There are many positives to highlight about this hotel. The staff were friendly and helpful, the room was clean and comfortable, and the location is excellent—but a car is a must. The setting is truly beautiful, with stunning ocean views. Falling asleep to the sound of Atlantic waves was incredibly peaceful.However, the most disappointing aspect of our stay was the dining experience. We arrived late on our first night and chose to dine at the hotel rather than venture out in the dark after checking in. We weren’t aware it was a buffet until after we were seated, but decided to stay. Unfortunately, that turned out to be a poor decision. For 30 Euros, the selection was minimal and the food quality resembled cafeteria fare. They ran out of chocolate cake early and didn’t bother to restock it. The staff seemed impatient and disengaged, as if they didn’t want to be there. Overall, it felt overpriced.Breakfast wasn’t much better. The variety was limited, and we kept wondering if there was another section we were missing. On our final morning, the coffee machine broke down and was never repaired.While the dining experience detracted from the overall impression, we still enjoyed our stay and appreciated the hotel’s many positives.

    Bad business practice: there was a mistake during booking with wrong date. Despite contacting the hotel Caloura immediately after booking they refused to correct the mistake. As a result, they kept my 400 euros even if providing no lodging to me and my husband.

    This place blew us away. We had an amazing time here, 6 night stay. Alfonso, Henrigue and Emanuel were the stars of our hotel stay/service. If I ever go back to the Azores I am booking this hotel again without a doubt. Also somewhat centrally located to the rest of the island on the south side, which made a great base to visit all the of the beautiful experiences the Azores has to offer.
