  Beautiful and charming. The staff was kind and friendly and paid great attention to detail. The breakfast had a huge variety and was delicious and superb! The courtyard was peaceful. Location was perfect. Definitely will book this again when I return.

  Great place to sleep! I loved my loft room so much. The high ceilings, the amount of light in that house and the wood. It is charming. This is a place of sanctuary a very relaxing and quiet atmosphere. However, I wouldn't recommend this place for young solo travellers who like to socialise a lot because there were times when I was restless if I weren't outdoors. The laundry detergent was so beautiful, that I would go back just to breathe in that scent on my clothes again.

  Amazing B&B in an Ideal Location

  This is a beautiful casa built in 1901 in the heart of the city. It has been renovated and decorated with much attention to detail. The staff are friendly, helpful & inviting, the beds are comfortable, the bath linens are superior, the hot water was plentiful and the breakfasts are decent. There are many great restaurants and sights within walking distance and a great gelato shop a block away. Just a note to mention that our room was on the upper 3rd floor & there is no elevator, so be prepared to climb and there is no bar fridge in the room to keep drinks or hiking water cold.

  We had problems with shower, lock/keycard, and more

  This hotel is charming, but there were some problems that made the stay less than perfect.One problem was that the shower in Room 10 was busted (the holder was busted so you couldn't take a normal shower under the showerhead/nozzle... you had to hold it with your hand.)Another issue is that we were woken up near midnight on the first night of our stay by people knocking on the door. It was hotel staff, because they were wondering how we had a key to the room when they still had two keycards in their possession.. we showed them our card, and they realized it was their error, but we were exhausted after traveling for 15 hours, so this was very bad timing to interrupt our sleep.We also found out that the lock to our door wasn't working at all... the room had remained unlocked all day with our possessions inside. Fortunately, nothing happened, but it could have... they had to repair the door lock the following day.After that, everything was fine.Breakfasts were decent and the location is good (be aware you have to climb stairs to get to the rooms.)This would have been a 5 star stay, but the problems we encountered really detracted from the experience.

  Pros:The service staff were excellent during our 9 night stay. We arrived very early, they stored our bags and invited us to breakfast before we could return to check in later in the day. Our room was clean, spacious enough and very charming. The daily breakfast varied each morning, featuring various egg dishes, baked goods, cheeses, fruits, yogurt and spreads. Very good location, a short 5 minute walk to many excellent restaurants and the "proper downtown" area.Cons:Unfortunately there aren't enough parking spots for all the rooms, we booked over 4 months in advance and all parking had been reserved already during our stay. We found the best place to park was a 6 minute walk to the Antonio Borges Botanical Garden - there's a free lot adjacent to it.There's no iron available in the room or hotel, which was surprising. The staff did offer to take my clothing to another hotel location and iron it for me, I declined this service, but would recommend that the hotel have at least one on hand for guests to use. I would recommend Casa das Palmeiras and would happily stay there again on my next visit.
