Location

This hotel is located in the centre of Horta, opposite the harbour in Largo Dr. Manuel de Arriaga, and next door to one of the most famous cafes in the world, “Peter’s Café Sport”. Guests will reach the beach in about 100 m, the airport in approximately 10 km. Faial Crater Nature Reserve Park is situated about 18 km from the hotel, Varadouro is around 20 km, and the Capelinhos volcano is some 25 km away.

Facility

The hotel has 4 lifts and features 103 non-smoking rooms. English- and French-speaking staff at the 24-hour reception desk are happy to answer any questions. Services such as a baggage storage service, a safe and a currency exchange service ensure a comfortable stay. Wireless internet access allows guests to stay connected while on holiday. The tour desk offers assistance with booking excursions. The hotel has a range of facilities for guests with disabilities. The hotel has wheelchair-accessible facilities. A number of shops, including a supermarket and souvenir shop, are great for shopping or just browsing. Additional amenities include a TV room and a playroom. Rooms

Air conditioning and individually adjustable heating ensure that rooms maintain comfortable temperatures. All rooms are carpeted and have a double bed or a queen-size bed. Extra beds can be requested. A safe, a minibar and a desk are also available. Guests will also find a tea/coffee station included among the standard features. A direct dial telephone, a television with satellite/cable channels, a radio, an alarm clock and WiFi (no extra charge) provide all the essentials for a comfortable holiday. Guests can take advantage of the nightly turndown service. A hairdryer and bathrobes are provided in the bathrooms, which include a shower and a bathtub. The outdoor pool complex is ideal for exercise and relaxation. Comfortable sun loungers are available on the terrace. A hot tub can soothe sore muscles (for a fee). For guests who wish to keep active, cycling/mountain biking, fishing and horse riding are available. With windsurfing, canoeing, sailing, catamaraning, snorkelling and diving available, fans of water sports will have plenty to choose from. Guests can enjoy a wide range of indoor sports, including a gym, billiards, callisthenics and aerobics. There is a wellness area with a spa, a steam bath, a hammam, a beauty salon and hydrotherapy treatments and, for an additional fee, a sauna and massage treatments. Guests of all ages have the opportunity to enjoy a fun entertainment programme.

Meals

Various dining options are available, including a breakfast room, a café and a bar. The non-smoking restaurant provides high chairs for children. Catering options include bed and breakfast, half board, full board and all-inclusive. A continental breakfast buffet guarantees a great start to the day. At lunch and dinner, guests can choose between a buffet, à la carte and a set menu. Diet meals, vegetarian dishes and children's meals can be prepared on request. In addition, special catering options and snacks are available. The hotel offers a selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages.

    The good is the location. Easy walk to everywhere in town Check was fine we got in a little early and the room was not ready. The staff did not seem super interested just said come back later. The room was a good size but dated. The bed was hard and carpet and furniture could use an update. Breakfast was average. The usual buffet. Nothing à la cart. Overall a convenient place to stay. Not really a four star hotel.     Of course everyone has to start somewhere. But we trust reviewers with more experience and more likely not to be AI. Told there are 3 hotels in Faial and this is ideally located. Good breakfast buffet beginning at 6:30AM. Spacious rooms. Helpful staff. Convenient for tour, airport pickups, etc. We stayed 3 nights and would definitely do so again.     It is a nice hotel, pleasant to stay. The free covered parking is definitely a bonus in the old town area

    The Hotel do Canal is conveniently located at the waterfront, walking to the marina and the old town centre. Even though the old town has very limited street parking, this hotel has its own covered parking (some 20 spaces, apparently for small cars only). The rooms are of decent size, nicely decorated and furnished. The included breakfast is well stocked with very good varieties of hot items, cold cuts, bakery and cereal.     The hotel staff were friendly from the front desk staff to housekeeping! A central location and walkable to many points of interest. Nice breakfast room with a good selection of breakfast items.
