    Think Twice Before Booking This Place

    Our experience here was mediocre. First, a few facts about our stay:1. On our second day, the hot water did not work in the unit. We had to forego showers on this day. To their credit, this issue was resolved when we returned in the evening.2. The hotel was advertised with onsite dining. During on our stay, there was a major remodel going on, The restaurant was closed for our stay. No notice was given in advance. 3. We had to arrive and depart three times before we could find someone to check us into our room. This was inconvenient for us.4. From our perspective, this operation was a bit of a train wreck. The rooms were generally clean but most of the interior furnishings need TLC or replacement.5. During our stay, we needed to bail out of the Azores early to avoid flight impacts from Tropical Storm Gabrielle. This was unfortunate, as we really enjoyed our time on San Miguel and really had no desire to leave early. We realized that this was beyond anyone’s control, so we proposed to pay 50% for the night we didn’t stay. The Hotel denied any responsibility, rejected our request and “ghosted us” on future communication.We hate to give negative reviews, but Buyer Beware on this one.Safe travels all.

    This was the most expensive place we stayed in the Azores so I had high expectations, not quite met! It’s beautiful but I was surprised no welcome pack considering they don’t offer any breakfast. It’s a 10 minute walk to supermarket. Pool & hot tub were lovely but felt like we were constantly being “watched” whilst using it. Children were told not to jump in. Apartment was well appointed. Lagoa pools were brilliant. This is probably the perfect place to stay without kids. It’s was lovely & peaceful!

    My family and I really enjoyed our stay in a one bedroom apartment. It was clean, comfortable, fully-equipped and had ample room for a family of 4. The grounds of the hotel are absolutely stunning - full of beautiful flowers and plants. My teenage boys really enjoyed using the hot tub, pool, sauna and gym. The hotel is centrally located on the island making it very easy to access most of the major sites and only a 10 minute drive to downtown Ponta Delgada. The owner of the hotel was very friendly and accommodating during our stay. We will definitely stay here again!

    We didn't spend much time here but would have been happy to do so. Comfortable bed, ample room in the apartment, outdoor seating, pool, and on-site restaurant. Very modern decor. Short drive or long walk to downtown Lagos, and 12 minutes drive to the airport.

    Staying at Quinta de Santa Barbara has been the perfect place! We were traveling with a 2-year old who also immediately felt home. Staff is very friendly and professional. The infrastructure is fantastic: everything is beautifully green and calm and besides a fabulous swimming pool, there is a nice jaccuzi and sauna/steam bath. There is also a very good onsite restaurant. We explored the entire island from this location where we had the pleasure of staying 10 days. Best decision ever! Fully recommended!
